    Night before Oman

I think I posted this idea a little while ago, but here it is. I think it would be a cool fan made map. The breifing would be something like:

"Navy seals are attacking the beaches of the Gulf of Oman to secure a landing area for the marines in the morning, when an attack is planned on the nearby MEC airfield. The SEALS' mission is to clear out all 4 shore outposts. Unfortunatly for the SEALS, the MEC has an elite special forces team to guard the shores knowing the base's importance."

Now, it would be nice if the USMC would lose tickets until it captured all the outposts. This would be difficult to balance though, so you might need the USMC to have a huge vehicle/ticket advantage. Or you could simply make it work like Sharqi (though that would put less pressure on the SEALs to capture every outpost). I have no experience with the BF2 editor, so if you want to use this idea, please have my permission.

    That sounds ace :)
    I'll have a fidle :p
I'm not promising anything, just makie it dark and delete the ship, maybe lowerthe water level (tidal) lol erm, oh nd the bridge the goes near to the far left outpost... make a road that links up to a small empty town..

If my comp could cope with harcore maps like that then I would have done it..I couldn't even right click to add spawnpoint.. :s
I'll get a pic of how it should be..

      Here we go:

      Check the paint skills!
It will be sweet that way, no land vehicles only 1 at each MEC base. The BH should only spawn every minute, no less.

Sorry to bump up such an old thread, but I didn't know this got response. Anyway, thanks. All I request is you give me credit for the idea.

Oh, and I was thinking more interms of a submarine off the cost, but that works too...better maybe.

Thats a very good idea for a map! , maybe you could also add in a parachute spawn point like we have on some SF maps.

            Re: Night before Oman

i think what you need to do is make two american spawn points. The MEC could concentrate all their forces to that one side..and we've all seen what happens on karkand, it'll be near the end of the round untill that post is taken, with the water there, it is a very limited route and the americans could get wasted. They can go over the bridge..but isnt it destructable..leaving transport there totally unknown..and swimming is a lost cause, yes RIBS and a blackhawk could be kinda usefull. It'd be tough to breach, even those jeeps with the .50 cal machine guns can rip threw a blackhawk with ease. You should make a second american landing at the other side of the 4 bases, again on the shore. Maybe not an uncapturable one, but usefull enough so that the first base can be taken. The second base should be almost vehicle less, maybe a jeep. Cant have two powerhouse bases going in, taking out the first line of defense which is usually the toughest then ripping up the last two bases. Thats just my thoughts on the map, i like it though, i guess i'd have to get up off my butt and go get SF.

This is an incredibly good idea for a map - Its great! And it fits into the idea of the day map.

How would you be able to spawn the blackhawk? over the sea? You need something to put it on.

hang on, heres an idea. Get the little fishing boat thing and you can spawn on them (2 of them) and get in the 4 RIBs.
as for the BH, i don't know - perhaps a floating helipad positioned between the two fishing boats?

Good advice guys, and thanks for the compliments.

I do think the idea of a land base is better than spawning in a parachute/submarine, because it would allow for more possibilities (for example the USMC spawning near armor). And your right about the destructible bridge, especially if the USMC has to capture all the outposts to stop losing tickets. The advantage you'd need to give the US to make up for the fact that they are losing tickets, can be stopped by a bridge easily, and only have one base would just be insane. You'd either need to give them 3 times the airpower or 3 times the tickets. So yes, I like the "two bases" idea. Perhaps one is air dropped while the other rides in on armor?

Hmmm... I say keep the carrier there... because if you die, what if the squads were full and there were no vehicles left, where would you spawn? Plus, you can barely see the carrier from the island even with a good setup... MAN if only BF 2 had a LCAC (is that what it's called?) It would make things so much better.

                    No, don't use the carrier.

Because it belongs to the USMC, and not the US Navy Seals.

I think the MEC would notice a big fat ass carrier outside their front door, stealth kinda goes out to window.

...so why not just have a sub like in that aslym map and just have it surrounded by ribs and jetskis?

                            I don't know - I don't have Special Forces, is there a sub?

If so, then let the US have 2 Uncappable Spawns - One on the map picture, with land vehicles (APCs for crossing the river?)

And another spawn with the Sub (if you can stand on it) with the Jetskis and RIBs, that would be pretty cool.

yeah its there. You spawn on top of it but are not able to go inside or anything. Also if you add a blackhawk I would remove a couple of those AA emplacements on the beach outposts...otherwise you couldn't get that thing off the ground more than 10 seconds without being shot down.
