Ok this may be old news and kinda crazy but I was playing with the un-ranked server files. I wanted a way to have bf2 maps and SF maps rotate. Of course you must have SF installed and be running the new server files.

I took the BF2 maps and placed them in the xpack levels folder on the server and did the same on my pc. I fired up the SF server manager and could now select all the maps. I then started the server and had some of my clan mates join. Worked like a treat.

I joined a ranked server SF server to see if I would get any warnings for modded content. I got none. The question is can this be done on an official ranked server and why lol.

Like I said, I was just fooling around.

Well the official ranked servers dont care what maps you have, as long as you have the ones they want theres nothing a modded map it doesnt use will do.... so no point in stopping it.


The one problem i have with bf2 mixed with sf maps is gonna be loosing half my team when it switches to a SF map....

I had the same concern. Everyone would have to move their maps to play on your server. If I can get my ranked server provider to move the maps it gives me more options. I can always just run SF maps. Right now you have to restart your server to switch games. Not a big deal, but if this works it could catch on. Anyone who wants to see how it works. Do the map copy and join ip: 69.43.154.110:16567

I would like to try it but everytime i log on no one is on and the map wont change with one person!!

Commmon guys lets get some people playing in this i have to try out karkand with a zipline!!!!!

I'v seen BF2 servers that were running Karkand change over to a SF map. Especially the Gamespy one. I got booted at the time because I didn't have the game.

I would think that ea/dice will enable both maps playable on one game(SF) in a later patch. It hs been done for other games such as Raven Shield/Athena Sword

I was suprised to find out Ea did not include this with the patch. In watching my server when the map changes to a bf2 map it restarts the server. You only notice a slightly longer load time because of this. I would hope EA does a patch for this. I'm waiting for my ranked server provider to get back from vacation to see if he will move the maps for me so I can do this on that server. I will be on the server tonight around 6pm pst for those that want to check it out. Jethro...I used to be major woody but since turning 58 i'm just woody now

Well guys unless i did something wrong I was not able to use my hook and zipline in the old bf2 maps ithe option was not available. I do like that you dont have to restart the game to play on these servers, but I would love the option to use those tools. Any thoughts on how to adjust that?

I think you choose what equipment the kits have on each map. Like on iron gator, they have removed the zippy and grapple..
