I played SF last night for the first time. I joined a 64player map, wtf chaos! i just don't know how to play it  & I can't decide what weapon to whore :) It must be the flags, there's too many of them, teammates are scattered everywhere.
i thought BF2 prepared me for SF, guess not

Yea i'm with you on that, I consider myself a pretty good BF2 player but i played on a 64 man server last night as well and all i did was get killed "numerous" times and if that wasn't happening i was getting myself lost.LOL! Total Chaos is right......Comment

Re: i thought BF2 prepared me for SF, guess not
I've done a few accidential TK's walking inside a dark room and trying to decide if friend or foe in a split second, everyone looks the same with nightvision going and I typically shoot by uniform before I shoot by red/blue tags. Night time and darkness definately make me a bit more jumpy.Comment

Re: i thought BF2 prepared me for SF, guess not
Maybe its my age (43) but SF just doesn't do it for me. All these dark maps, then the night maps
. Anyway, I just can't seem to get into it, without seeing very well on all the dark maps. The maps don't have any "flow" like the BF2 maps. At least I have the unlocks for BF2
.
The more I try to play SF, the more I realize BF2 is WAY more fun (for me at least). Back to Vanilla land BF2 (with unlocks
)

nah, I'm 21 and dont like NV fighting at all. It spoils the 'nice' architecture and the ability to see and read signs and whatnot. I guess I play more for fun rather than some tactical maniac that likes to run in the dark maps etc...Originally posted by scott111Maybe its my age (43) but SF just doesn't do it for me. Seriously boring isn't it? Green, grey and black? Was in AA and will always be for me...Comment

Amen to that! The truly don't flow like vanilla. However, remember back when BF2 firwst came out. There wasn't any flow then either. It will just take us some time to learn the new maps and then we can get our flow on.The maps don't have any "flow" like the BF2 maps.
All I do know is that I HATE night maps. Always having to switch back and forth to the NVG's. I mean yeah, it's slightly realistic, but come on. It's also way to hard to pick out people against the back drops. Night maps are a campers dream. Find a good camping spot and chill.Comment

Re: i thought BF2 prepared me for SF, guess not
Well, at first I was like Ya Night maps! Put the ol' NVG on and after about 45 minutes worth, I had a headache. However, the server changed to a day map and it was all good. Few more day maps then a night map. As long as its rotated like that I can handle it. BTW, GhostTown rocks!
Did you try and play the day maps yet? I think they are pretty good.Maybe its my age (43) but SF just doesn't do it for me. All these dark maps, then the night maps . Anyway, I just can't seem to get into it, without seeing very well on all the dark maps.Comment

Re: i thought BF2 prepared me for SF, guess not
Well I just played my first games which were long enough to be enjoyable tonight, and I must say, though I kind of agree about nightvision, I keep it off by deafult (with more than just beauty of the map in mind). It is kind of tense but not in a "Oh no is that jet looking at me or is he going to bomb our base?" kind of way, so a perfer describe it as an adrenaline maker.
The map I played was devils perch. I could already see how teamwork could play a huge roll if that's what you meant by chaos.
And don't forget guys, you were lucky the majority weren't night maps.Comment

Re: i thought BF2 prepared me for SF, guess not
Well guess I'm not the only one here that is less than satified with SF?
Yes the night maps truly suck for me. Switching the NVG on-off all the time, not knowing where the hell your going, then....bang...your dead. I probably won't play SF very much simply because of the night maps. The low frame rate combined with the fact that they are not really fun (for me at least) kinda sticks a fork in SF. I knew Dice was going to make it this way (read all the previews) but I had hope it would somehow be fun. Without a doubt, Dice is appealing to less people with SF, which (IMO) was a bad idea overall.Comment
