  • GUIDE: Fully/Manually Uninstalling BF2+SF

This worked for me, this is *some* of the original manual uninstall guide from EA, but I had to edit a few things to make it work for present day BF2(1.01,1.03,1.12)

THIS GUIDE IS TO FULLY/MANUALLY UNINSTALL Battlefield 2 & Special Forces
(note: this will fix MANY problems)

    1. Open *My Documents*.
    2. Right-click on the /Battlefield 2/ folder and choose *Delete*.

To delete the game files (in the default location):

    1. Open *My Computer*.
    2. Open the *C* drive.
    3. Open the *Program Files* folder.
    4. Open the *EA GAMES* folder.
    5. Right-click on the /Battlefield 2/ folder and choose *Delete*.
    6. Close all open windows.
    7. Right-click on the *Recycle Bin* and choose *Empty Recycle Bin*.

To edit the registry and remove /Battlefield 2/:

    1. Click on the *Start* button.
    2. Click on *Run*.
    3. Type *regedit* in the text field.
    4. Click *File* and then choose *Export*.
    5. Name the file *Backup* and make sure the Export Range is set to *All*.
    6. Click *Save*; you will now be returned to the Registry Editor window.
    7. Click the *plus sign* next to *HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE*.
    8. Click the *plus sign* next to *Software*.
    9. Click the *plus sign* next to *Wow6432Node*.
    10. Click the *plus sign* next to "DICE".
    11. *Right click* on "Battlefield 2(TM)" and click delete.
    12. *Right click* on "Battlefield 2: Special Forces" and click delete.
    13. *Click* the *plus sign* next to *Electronic Arts*.
    14. *Goto EA CORE then INSTALLED GAMES then EAGAMES, right click BF2-2006 and click delete
    15. Goto Electronic Arts then EA GAMES then right click on BATTLEFIELD 2 and BATTLEFIELD 2 SPECIAL FORCES and click delete for both
    16. Click the *plus sign* next to *Microsoft*.
    17. Click the *plus sign* next to *Windows*.
    18. Click the *plus sign* next to *CurrentVersion*.
    19. Click the *plus sign* next to *Uninstall*.
    20. Right-click and choose *Delete* on the key named
    "{04858915-9F49-4B2A-AED4-DC49A7DE6A7B}"
    *********AND********
    "{50D4CB89-AF34-4978-96DC-C3034062E901}"
    18. Close the Registry Editor.

/Battlefield 2/ should now be completely uninstalled. If anything
appears to be working incorrectly after editing the registry, simply
double-click on the Backup file on your desktop to restore the old registry.

    ######################
    After your done
    1st install BF2
    2nd install special forces
    3rd install 1.12 patch
(you do not need and do NOT install any patches other then 1.12)

If you have any questions let me know, also Iam not sure but this topic might want to be sticky'd

          Re: GUIDE: Fully/Manually Uninstalling BF2+SF

Is this in efforts to fix the stuttering and Frame Rate problems with SF? I heard uninstall/reinstall does nothing to fix that.

I'm interested in just going back to the way things were before the Expansion. So I deleted Special Forces until they come out with a REAL patch that works.

not to fix that, the point is to be able to uninstall the game if the bf2 installer screws up like mine did and others..how about reading why i posted it in the original post
