What is your mentality toward buying SF?

Just to clear the air, some people here have said I hate the Special Forces addon. How can a person hate something they've never tried? Strange assumption, but I merely wish to remind the people that said "I'm not buying another EA product ever again".

So, for the sake of consumer psychology of the forum community, I want to get a feel for how people are approaching the idea of buying the Special Forces addon for Battlefield 2. The poll options are broken down as follows:

    1. You liked the original BF2 retail product, including the patches, and have faith that the expansion will be just as good.

    2. You liked the original BF2 retail product, including the patches, but you don't think the addon will be worthwhile or as good as the original.

    3. You disliked the original BF2 retail product, including the patches, but you think the addon will be an improvement.

    4. You disliked the original BF2 retail product, including the patches, and you think the addon will not be any better of an improvement.

    1.

I love BF:2. I play *way* too much of it. Never since ET have I felt the same sense of teamwork. I've installed all 4 patches, on several machines, and never had a patching error.
I preordered SF. €30 is about an hours work pre-tax. I don't care about new weapons as such but the maps interest me. I'd happily pay €30 to a modding team who could produce a produce that would add new weapons/maps/ to the original BF2.

I dont care if the game is poor or not, the only thing that matters to me is that I get my hands on those new weapons so I can own even more in Karkand lol

Interesting approach to the situation. So you'd buy the addon for the sake of a mod team to develop it into something better? While this notes your confidence in EA/DICE's abilities to produce a product you'd like to keep in "pure" form, it also indicates your confidence and pleasure with the performance of mod teams. Again, interesting.

Wow, we got our own Michael Moore here. Able and willing to twist any statement to suit his needs.

Since this is the only post you could remotely be refering to, I don't see how you can take what he said and make it into what you said. Not surprising you didn't directly quote. Your distaste and dislike of EA seeps through on your posts. Why can't you get over the fact that a lot of us are perfectly happy with our product and move on?

No, his words say it for me. I insinuate nothing and I twisted no one's words. You assume that is my modus oprandus because you opted to have a bias against me even though I made a completely even-optioned poll.

By the way, calling someone Michale Moore is only an insult when used by overly conservative people that know as much about the topic as they do to the circumstances of their own conception. In your case, a backseat and a case of Bud Light.

Dude, you are smoking crack. He said he was willing to pay €30 for a mod that had maps and weapons if they could produce that. He says nothing about confidence in anyones ability to do so. He also said he preordered BF2:SF, not that he was buying it in the hopes that a mod team would add onto it.

You are looking way into things people say and making of them whatever you want. Your nuts, crazy, loco. What is your actual purpose here besides to stir **** up?

Re: What is your mentality toward buying SF?

Ya know, Dave, you're right. Since you pointed that out, I noticed I did read his statement wrong. Instead of "for a mod team" it's "to a mod team". Me seeing what I want to see? No. Me simply missing the beat? Yup.

The logic behind my interpretation was that the commentor would gladly pay EA/DICE for a skeleton that a mod team would be happy to fix or alter. That was how I read it. And from that interpretation is how I came to the conclusion that he did not have faith in EA/DICE. But now that I have reread it (after X amount of volleys between the two of us), I see that I read it incorrectly.

My bad. But the poll still remains. The options are still valid, and I see that most players don't take my personal opinion into account, so no harm done. People are still being honest about their experience with BF2 and their intentions with the expansion, which is what I wanted.

the only problem i have wit it is where are the BF2 origonal maps?
I just wish u could play all the maps even if the origonal ones are unchanged and are exactly the same

Re: What is your mentality toward buying SF?

I love the original game, patches and all. I play it as much as i can and enjoy every minute of it (well not every minute, but if theres idiots in the server i find another one fairly quickly with so many to choose from)

I so far think the expansion pack is just as good for different reasons, firstly i love the fun factor of it with the quads and grapples, etc plus there is a more specialist factor if you want to play like that (sneak up on people tactically with night vision)

However i actually like all the vehicles in BF2, including planes and use all vehicles, kits and weapons equally so for me this is the best of both worlds and i will certainly be laying both BF2 and SF for the forseeable future.

Now if only i could use the zipline and grapple in Regular BF2 i would happily forgoe to extra weapons that are transferable. snipers would never be safe again with the damn claymores on ladders
