ok i went to play battlefield 2 today and it is lagging like **** i mean ffs im getting seriously ****ed off i have a ping of 22 i lag i have any ping i lag im getting seriously ****ed off with this now so can anyone help i think it might be fps lag cause im getting it with almost all my games even single player games so how do i fix this?

ps. i have all latest drivers i have reinstalled 3 times patched 3 times , i have done virus scans i have done spyware scans i have done trojan scans so plz does anyone know wtf is going on here if you can help then your a GOD

Specs? Settings? You've basically just told us that you don't feel good and need us to give you a diagnosis without coming in for a checkup and tests. Are you saying that this happened suddenly? Yesterday you were playing at highest settings 50fps and today you get 5? Have you installed anything since it last worked? Do you have Kazaa on your computer? Do you look at a lot of porn (not being a jerk, lots of free porn sites download malicious software through security holes in your browser).

ok guys i run the game on low for everything except the sound i run that on medium

here are my specs

windows xp pro
2.4 pentium 4 processor
1GB ram
geforce 5200FX

Sorry guy your videocard just doesn't cut it. According to EA Games, BF2 requires at LEAST a 5700. Something to keep in mind if you plan to upgrade in order to play BF2: think of the minimum requirements as a test in school. Just barely meeting the minimum requirements is a lot like getting a D. Right now you've got a C+ because your processor and ram are well within minimum guidelines. A 5700 goes for about $80 on Newegg but you can probably find it cheaper on ebay used. No offense but even a 5700 is a waste of money just to meet the low settings of BF2. I understand that you might not be able to afford, or even want to, do a larger upgrade, but might I suggest an ATI 9800 or nVidea 6800? For around $120 you can get an offnamed ATI-based 9800 with 256mb mem. In your system, you'd then be able to most likely hit medium settings (with some windows/system optimization: free to do). and he was playing on mostly high settings (no anti-aliasing). He only had 1gb and an AMD 3000+ (roughly equivilant to a pentium 4 3ghz). You just have to make sure it's compatible with your computer, and you might want to get someone to help you if you're not familiar with the inside hardware. It's pretty easy to swap out a videocard but you'll have to clean your harddrive of old drivers and possibly reformat/reinstall windows (depending on your system). Good luck!

Doesn't explain my problems with a massive FPS hit after installing SF and the 1.12 patch...

No, I'm not going to re-install drivers, because my sh+t's fine on COD2, WOW, and every other damn game I play.

I was getting 80FPS constant pre install/patch, and immediately after booting it up I'm getting 1-2 FPS looking out across open ground, and 10 FPS with my face planted in a wall.

i think i fixed my problem i just went into video and reset to default one of my mates was getting the same problem as me and he has a good gfx card no like me lol he just reset to default and it work as i did and it works so now im playing on crappy 800x600 but heyi can live with that
