Here is the approximate view for tv guided missiles your gunner will see while you fly. Notice that it's much lower than the helicopters in BF2. So, get those noses up and make your co-pilots happy.
Thank you very much for the overlay, its greatly appreciated. However, this new layout will make it much more impractical to line up gunners for effective shots. I mainly solo strafe (to great effect) so it doesn't really effect me, but alot of people will be unhappy about this I think.
Ah well, time to learn to fly and manuver aggressivley instead of defensivley
Before, I would have to nose down quite a bit to line up the gunner for a ground target...sometimes causing me to zoom right past the target.
Air targets though (other attack choppers) will be a different matter altogether...
This way, I can be more level.
And since you 'mainly solo strafe', I'm assuming you usually don't have a co-pilot (or you ignore them) so I don't think this will affect you in any way
Yeah, I noticed this the very first time I flew the chopper, yet noone else has. Thanks for posting. I still get those pilots who think they're heros, and kill us in the process. Dogfights are all about altitude, if you're higher than him, you're also out of his gunners cone, and giving your gunner a better shot. You have to be a good pilot to win with the Hind vs the apache. I don't have much trouble, but when I have a gunner, the fool always lights up the target with the gun before I get a chance to go in for an attack, and then the apache sees us because of his gun and we lose. Being smart is MUCH better than being good; even if you're good and a dumbass you'll lose most every fight. Very frustraiting when the pilot zips around killing people himself then we just get hit by the other chopper despite me spotting it 19 times. How come noone responds to spotting.
I feel your pain Underpant. That's why I really love flying with friends so we can communicate. Plus they have brains. I hate gunners that start blazing the guns at another helicopter while I try to line them up (being all stealth) for a tv shot. It spooks the other guy and ruins the easy shot.
