Understanding the new unlocks from BF2:SF...

    Hey all,

I just got Special Forces and I was wondering how this whole unlock buisness is working. I've searched the forums and haven't really gotten the exact answer I was looking for. As far as I know, from what I've read, you can now unlock guns in SF that you can use in BF2, correct? Also since I already have about 34k points and 6 unlocks in BF2 all I have to do is goto a ranked BF2:SF server and hit 6 guys and I will get my unlocks? Like when 1.3 came out, I hit 3 guys and my rank went up 3 times...can anyone who's gotten these unlocks in SF for BF2 explain how they did it or requirements or just shed a little more light on this topic?

    Thank in Advance

I was playing a little while ago, I haven't bought the expansion yet but I've picked up a couple of SF kits. But to answer your question, yes you can use SF guns and special grenades included in the SF expansion. IMHO with all the whining Dice/EA did over all the cheats that people are using and stressing that the playing field be level. I'm left wondering what Dice/EA were thinking, allowing SF players with all the special items in the same servers with people without BF2/SF??!? I've listened to some people on the servers say 'it is ok to cheat, you just have to pay EA first'. IMHO that is a little extreme, I realize that EA has to make money but those SF unlocks should have remained on SF only servers.

yeah it's much like 1.03, go play in a ranked server for a while, then relog in if neccesary, after a while I just looked in BFHQ and it gave me unlocks. but relog if it dosen't give you them after a few rounds.

the way unlocks work I'm still figuring out, I know so far I've gotten new guns for the seals, and I think SAS. Mp7 for engi, one for medic, and support. these replace the normal american defualt ones, I can no longer get a m16 for my medic, it's the g36 variant and the enfield unlock from original BF2.

however when I play with russians, and insurgets/ mec spec/ rebels, I get all the defualt ones, and my normal unlocks.

your also going to have to check out how your new unlocks work in original BF2, cause they carry over apparently. But I haven't checked just yet, still karkand with news guns is interesting.

How would be cheat to use SFs on BF2 normall servers ?

So you say in Americas Army its is cheat too, when you have to play as insurgent against well armed SF there ?

Dont give dumb excuses to not buy the SF addon, if you dont like EA that much why do you keep playing BF series at all ?

First off I'm not the one who said that, I was posting what other people were saying on the server. Please reread my post and not put words in my mouth, please. However I think they do raise a good point, why are those SF kits available on "normal servers" as you put it? I do agree with them that those SF kits should have been limited only to SF maps. So no I don't think that is a dumb excuse at all. However I plan on buying SF anyway so I'm not making any excuses not to buy SF, again those are not my words. But please tell me why SF buyers be allowed to have those SF kits on "normal servers", I'd like to hear the other side to this.

Re: Understanding the new unlocks from BF2:SF...

When i say "you" im talking to all those that agree with your post.

Cheat is when you exploit the game...like become invisible, auto-aim, heva extra body armor and etc...

If "you" consider those with diferent/stronger weapons cheaters, so i would call that guy in a tank killing everybody a cheater ?
Not all can be in a tank and most of time we are on foot against it.

Those who have got SF pay extra 30$ and i think nothing more fair than giving them some extra tools.

Still, you (now im talking to you directly) didnt answer me...in Americas Army, Special forces have much better weapons than insurgents and still i dont see anyone saying that is cheat.

Its just one ridiculous excuse to complain against EA.
And yes, get rdy all no SF owners...we are coming to flash you.

Re: Understanding the new unlocks from BF2:SF...

it is a touch unfair, however consider this, you NEVER buy the expansion and continue to play normal BF2, if you wanna check out the BF guns, you'll eventually kill someone with a SF gun, and take it. Apparently people are even picking up the flashbangs in the kit, but I can't confirm that.

And yeah the SF guns aren't uber, they look uber, but the whole G3g line does. I hope they aren't too much of a advantage in normal BF2. However on maps with air power, it's less about infantry anyways, it'll matter on city maps a bit more perhaps.

The f2000 is insane, it takes skill to use properly but if you know what you are doing you will get higher scores than people in jets...

Or better weapons... You can hash it any way you like but fact of the matter is SF kits should have never been allowed to access regular BF2 maps. This is all about EA pressuring people to buy the expansion, nothing more, nothing less. Even if that means giving people with SF kits an unfair advantage.

You just answered part of your question for me. And your right not everyone can be in a tank as there are only one or two tanks in the game. Everyone has the same chances of getting to use that tank during game play.

I think that is where you and I are going to have to agree to disagree. I think that SF should only be played on SF servers.

In your last post it looked like you were putting words in my mouth again with the "So you say...", so I wasn't going to respond. Also if you are talking about the game that the US government put out as recruit PR then I can't answer that question since I don't have or play that game.

Given the number of people bringing this issue up I don't think it is ridiculous at all, so I guess that is just one more thing we will have to agree to disagree on.

Now let me ask you a couple of questions if I may. Some of these BF2 players spent a lot of time working to unlock all those kits. Is it fair for a person to get all seven unlocks or slightly different unlocks for only $30USD? Is that time spent only worth $30USD?

FN2000 is definitely awesome -- the scope on that rules ... however I enjoy the flashbangs more than anything. Flashbangs are more useful a tool IMO than the noob tube as you can now disable both infantry and vehicles.

But then you will either have to deal with the other people who will be doing that or simply no longer play multiplayer. Which do you intend to do?
