I am trying to play some recordings I have, they download fine, and all. But when I hit play, the game crashes to the desktop. Is anyone else suffering from this problem?

Ok for those that havent caught on. When EA sends out an update it updates pretty much everything in some way. The BF2 Recorder Files take a record of what version they are on and when a patch comes out those recorder files are now useless.Comment

Pretty much summed it up.. every single patch this happens.. and there still happens to be posts saying the same exact thing.. you gotta prep for that stuffOriginally posted by TAW_DaSniperOk for those that havent caught on. but my question is, do you have to reconfig lets say the ftp when you record a demo on a server? I dont think so.. but i configed it before the patch and now, i think, they wont save.. hmm..Comment

Re: Battlefield Recorder crashing in 1.12?
We uploaded our properly configured, working in 1.03 rotate_demo.cfg file to the server to get battle recorder working again since patching to 1.12 but it still won't work. It does work for BF2 but when modified to work with SF it doesn't give a bookmark at all, it shows up in the ftp but only very small files and when viewed the player spawns then gets disconnected from server which never happened.
Something is wrong with battle recorder in regards to SF, maybe a python file needs to be re-written for it to work properly with SF?
Does anyone know of any server where BR works fo 1.12 SF?Comment

Re: Battlefield Recorder crashing in 1.12?
No they couldn't, the past demo was recorded using completely different game data. Its not as simple as recording a video, the demo records all the basic things and alot of the complicated stuff (explosions, damage, deaths etc.) are all calculated during playback, this keeps the filesize down and it also uses the data from the past version. So if you try to play it back it cant make sense of why things are happening, so likely to stop alot of errors and crashes from occuring EA likely just chose to make the older demos incompatible. Having them work would require BF2 to keep all the old data stored away somewhere which would take up more HDD space and likely confuse the game.Originally posted by BushersThat sucks! damn EA, surely they could have made it backward compatible?!
Looking back Im not sure any of that made sense.Comment
