Camping or not?

Sharqi 32 man 24 man server. A clanmate and I are USMC in the Cobra flying around the mainland and shooting TVs at the MEC chopper spawn. Now we aren't just floating there TVing it. We are actually killing a lot of people on the mainland and defending flags also. We just always turn and shoot at the chopper and we are always a good 400-600M away.

Now those MEC guys kept crying either Hack or called us camping noobs.

Question. Would you consider that camping or just good play style?

P.S. The guys we kept killing switched teams and TKd us..LOL

I'd say it is legit... they were just mad you were better then them at a game.

Whats wrong with camping? People are always whinging about this and that not being true to reality. Well how bout charlie in the tree, saddam in a hole, they were camping? Camping is as much a tactic as any other. And position is what counts. you can camp somewhere stupid and get 1 kill, or you can camp right where you need to and be set up to own half a team.

I'd call it a crushing tactic, but on a pub i'd also call it poor form.

I've gotten to the point where I will sometimes break off an attack like that if we are crushing the other team. I mean, if we're winning by a safe margin and those guys are getting owned too badly, what's the harm in breaking off?

Let someone else get some fun outta the round.

How do you figure spawn camping is a skillful move?

With that said let me explain, Im talkin about the spot I first appear to join or rejoin the game (not the one by my squad leader). I cant think of a single map that a player can be the first one in and spawn in a vehicle or aircraft. What Im calling spawn camping is when your screen comes up at the spawn location and all you see is a muzzle flash and you are killed. Yes Ive seen a lot of this, then you wanna tell me how much skill you have?

Instead of complaining further I have seen the best answer for this. I played on a server a while back that would swap the teams every round. You would have the same people on your team but you would be MEC for game one, Marine for game two, MEC for game Three and so on. That way if you wanted to camp my spawn on Karkand guess what Im gonna do next round.

Back to the chopper thing, since it isnt a normal spawn point, how does it qualify as spawn camping? Sounds to me like a couple of teen agers were mad cause you didnt let them "pwn" you. Weenies...Red

It's not "skillful" as in requires uber-reflexes.
It's "skillful" in just being a damned *smart* thing to do.

The tactic is effective, it's not too difficult to pull off, and it doesn't harm your team in any way.

Infact, in this case is a HUGE help! Not having to worry about that enemy chopper means you can roll in the armor! Armor is nice... I like to hide behind it. (I'm wandering).

However, as I mentioned I don't find this a very fun thing to do if we're beating on the other team too badly.

Point is, it's legit whether you like it or not.

BTW, if you want in on a little secret;
There's a very effective counter to it.

All you have to do is NOT spawn there! Even if you just spawn on the bottom of the tower, you can get to an AA emplacement and if they aren't careful, ya can take 'em down.

Otherwise, there's a whole lotta other places you should be able to spawn at and worry about! Worse comes to worse, let 'em have the tower! Then you come up the back side and take it back.

Camping is a great tactic if you can get it right, sometimes if your a good sniper you can own a whole group of ppl. I always relocate every 3 mins at the most, otherwise someone will just own you....thats if they get past the claymore . And about taking the tower thing back,if the camper (normaly a sniper) has any common sense he would have mined the ladder! so you would just own yourself by walking right into the mine.

This is not camping, it's baseraping.
I tried this "tactic" once 1-2 month ago, but I almost got banned from a server for doing it. One admin where really ****ed at me for doing this and he had to be calmed down by his own teammates. I appologized, of course.
Now I play fair, I stay out of uncappable enemy bases, and let them feel my wrath through my rifle, calling "Say hello to my little friend..."

Sounds just like a noob of a admin, whats the point in trying to ban you from the server just cos your near an enemy base. I don't have any problem with people doing that...as long as their not in a tank or something stupid like that. Can i ask you a question, was you owning the admins ass? cos thats normaly why they try and ban you from their server! ( i know it's happened to me a few times.)
