I am afraid you will need to reinstall the whole game .

DICE programmers aren't the best ones around and getting problems after installing some patches from them is very normal

        w00t... Go problem solving skills...

Same problem. Atleast if I double-click the shortcut enough my cd-rom drive spins up insanely fast and sounds like its gonna spit out a death-disk.

              Re: Problem After Update!

I experienced this problem with some of my BF2 shortcuts (BF2 and individual modss). I found that the failure was in the shortcut itself. Find the main executable and make a new shortcut. Or... just use these; using the appropriate drive:

              BF2: "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1

              BF2 SF: "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +modPath mods/xpack +ignoreAsserts 1

If this doesn't fix your problem, try a few other things before reinstalling. But if even C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\bf2.exe doesn't work, then perhaps you do have a corrupt install now. After uninstalling, turn off your page file, defrag, restart, create a new page file (size depends in relation to your ram), then install and try again. Good luck!
