I Don't Want It On The C: Drive

Not exactly a bug, but the SF installation won't let me choose which drive to install to. I have all my games on the E Drive, cause C is a small 10GB partition for the OS. Anyone have a clue how to install on E?

strange they don't let you pick the drive, actualy almost impossible, when your installer starts, he must ask you where to put the installation, maybe it's a button somewhere below wich you looked over

It should install to the same directory as BF2. It did in my case.. D:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 2\xpack is where it went.

yeah... You cannot install BF2 SF to a different directory from the BF2 Directory. It... Kinda has to be in there...

It has to reside in the mods folder of BF2 since the game is an EXPANSION pack.. AKA MOD.

Cant reside in a seperate drive or folder for that matter.

seriously, thats really freaky, im in your same exact situation, with the same exact drive sizes and names..... i looked into some of the files on the cd and theres nothing about where it installs to that i could find to change.....

all im thinking of is a partition resizer for the moment, then after it installs to the correct location, resize back down? thats all i can think of right now, and i dont really think EA gives a what about this problem that plagues a minority of us.

i say resize partition is the way to go, when i do this, i will post back, good luck!

This is correct. Although it doesn't let you choose, it will install it to wherever your BF2 directory already is. So, if you have installed BF2 to your E drive you shouldn't have a problem!

Run regedit

Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\Curr entVersion

Do not expand CurrentVersion node, just highlight it.
Find ProgramFilesDir variable in the window on the right side of the screen.
It will point to your program files directory (usually "C:\Program Files").
Change that path to folder on a drive that has enough space to patch BF2. Close regedit (this will save changes) and run the patch. After the patching is finished open regedit again and restore the previous value to the ProgramFilesDir (don't forget to do it - your system may become unstable if you won't).

This worked for me. I hope it will help at least some of you too.

Naw - won't find my existing BF2 Install (F: Drive) and will not install BF2 SF. Really sucks to pay $30 for nothing....
