i have the g3 unlocked in vanilla and and the m95 unlocked allready and i dont get new guns unlocked in vallina:cry: i want this f2000 for some strikin.

what if someone without the sf expansion picks up a weapon from sf while playing? is that why the patch was so big, because they had to add all the new weapons..

And because the 1.03 patch was about 178 MB.
The patch was made to make the exp.pack compatible with vanilla bf2, so those with the exp.pack can play with those with vanilla bf2.
If you don't got exp.pack installed, and you pick up a kit from a guy with the exp.pack installed and who uses one of the new guns, you get to use that gun (not the toys thou, as you both are playing vanilla bf2 if you play on the same server)

Scenario:
You (without bf2:sf): "Place projectile weapon on the ground."
Enemy (with bf2:sf): "You can have my gun, when you pry it from my cold dead fingers."
You: "Your proposal is acceptable."
Now what movie was that from?

I played BF2 tonight to test if the SF weapons and such are usable. I only got the BF2 weapons. No Flashbangs, tear gas or any other SF weapon was shown. This was on a Ranking server. I was curious on using the hook on the normal BF2. Nothing..so I left the server.

I don't have SF yet, however, I was in a vanilla BF2 server just now and killed someone who did own a copy, and took his special forces weapon and flashbangs

I could have done that last night but i was sorta... "in the zone" capturing the last American flag last night on a ranked server with all the americans trying to stop me....

Must have killed 10+ in Close quarters firing within 20 seconds.... i was about to pick up a new weapon from one of the dead and got a nade in the face.... then an american spent 15 seconds trying to revive me...

ok so just to basically ask the question tha everyone is trying to ask:

can you unlock the new weapons even withot BF2: SF on your computer?

hehe i got flashbanged 3 times on regular bf2 last night
so yeah thats basically what i want to know cos a guy i was playin with last night said that he played 1 round on regulr bf2 after installing the patch and then got the choice of weapons to unlock(the new ones from SF)
i asked him if he actually had SF and he didnt answer... (was probably in a fight at the time :p)

How dare EA give players who spend money on the xpac new guns and NOT give a bunch of free loading b******s the same!

Ummm we all we paid for the bf2 game and no one asked EA to let the SF people play in the vanilla BF2 servers. Why don't the vanilla BF2 players have their own servers and the SF people the same? What if we don't want to get the expansion pack and we still want to play the original game we paid for without being at a disadvantage?

No.

You cannot unlock anything new unless you own SF. You CAN take the guns from their cold, dead hands though, if you have patch 1.12 and kill an SF guy (just the same as you can pick up any kit in the game).

Not really a disadvantage, any more than you're at a disadvantage when you're fighting against someone who has more normal BF2 unlocks than you. The guns are just different, not better. They're alternatives. :) And at least you can pick up those guns and use them without paying a penny.

So the unlocks, in SF. replace the defualt ones, for SEALs, and SAS, and you still get your BF2 unlocks. while the other 4 get defualt MEC weaponry, and BF2 unlocks.

it seems unfair on paper, but defualt mec weapons are pretty good, so while playing non SAS, SEAL forces seems less interesting, hopefully it'll still be balanced, though in normal BF2 every side gets the unlocks, so some kits you'll have the defualt and 2 unlock options.

holy crap, EA/DICE has screwed us good, people who don't buy SF have disadvantage !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well thats the world of marketing for you, more incentive to buy the game. And besides you can still use your g36c, its not like dice just took away your weps and SF peopel all run around in tanks...

Also, the flashbang and other unlocks is what goes from SF to bf2 and back. The zip line, tear gas, and grapple hook are not for regular bf2.

First has anyone seen the stats on these SF kits? I don’t think anyone can safely make that claim until the stats on the SF kits are compared to the stats on the basic (not unlocked) kits that are being replaced. I played last night and I do know that the flash-bangs affects last longer than the smoke grenades.

Second when people play against someone who has more unlocked kits, they are playing against someone who has spent more time not more money. If anything IMHO this is an insult against anyone who has spent time playing BF2 working to unlock all of those weapons. Because now you can just buy some unlocks without putting out any effort or time into it. Where is the fairness in that???


IMHO EA only care about its profit margins and not its customers, because I think EA only did this to pressure people into buying the expansion. I have to agree with other people that EA doesn’t really care about people playing on a level playing field as long as EA is getting paid for it.

i get the same thing u get so dont worry, what u gota do is unlcok the G3 first, then the 2000 will magicly appear! =D, once you unlock the 2000 go for ur flashbang nades which will replace your smoke nades,

lol u dont just walk around with the flashbang and no weapon...

Ok I stand corrected. I finnaly found a ranked SF server with a decent ping and when I left got a free unlock. And yes the 2000 was on it. Thats kinda strange if BFHQ shows only a flash bang and then the unlock is the weapon. Talk about a lack of attention to detail. All well, me's happy.

It obviously is unfair. I wont be buying this azzhat expansion. No way Im supporting EA any more than I have.
