FFS patch failed on SF hard copy

WTF? is wrong with this patching failed crap? I got out and buy the damn game and now i cant install it cause of this crap?

Any got any ideas or suggestions?

I put disk one in, and it says it needs to undate to the 1.1 patch, may take a few mins, then after that it gives me a window to install and a box appears
"patching failed" and closes the installer

I had the same problem, luckily there's a solution :)

Here's what you do: Go to the control panel in windows and your user accounts. Start a new account (admin), it doesn't matter what it's called. Then log in with that account and install the patch/game. Log out and use your normal account and delete your newly created account if you like to.

Then just start the game and enjoy

I think the patch makes a .txt logfile in your my documents, that can give you a clue sometimes. My 1.03 failed due to the fact it needed tons of disk space for the install, for example.

Can you test if you can play online now, because it could be so that it only works on the account that you installed it on.

I'm confused.. Did you get the "patch failed" when you installed SF and it did the patch from the CD?

I installed the SF CD and it worked fine, but I had no servers showing up. I was able to play single player. I assume that is because I need to dl'd v1.12 which I have been doing for most of the evening now.

i get the failed patch when i install from the CD

if u still downloading the patch, a guy on this forum gave out a link that had the patch and the speed was fast for me.I think i got the patch in like 30mins or less:p
