    installing SF error

i'm using the EA Downloader like a retard.. so anyways .. it has like 3 stages .. and on the 2nd one it started running the install wizard and stuff .. so when i hit next to start installing a "Send error report" windows error comes up saying BF2CdKeyCheck.exe has encountered a problem

anyone know how to fix this?

I remember when trying to fix the invalid key issue and using BF2Cdkeycheck.exe that it crashed if there was an no CD-key entered in the registry for it to encrypt.

So try running Battlefield 2_code.exe in SUPPORT where BF2 is installed. This enters the cd-key to the registry but is not encrypted.

Then try to install again and let BF2CdKeyCheck.exe do its thing and encrypt the cd-key.

Gunny Highway, I have tried your suggestions and no soap. Any other thoughts would be helpfull. I have gone as far as uninstalling the game, and re-installing it, and when i try to install the expansion thru EA's crappy downloader, it gives me the same error reporting message BF2CDKeyCheck.exe has encountered an error. Errrr Before BF2, i haven't had any problems with EA. Since BF2, nothing but problems with EA as a whole!!!! Damn them!!!!!!

Thanks for the glimmer of hope Gunney, but I tried your suggestion too with no luck. I logged a question on this with EA support. I'll report back when I hear something.

                  Re: installing SF error

Yeah i am checking out the EA forums right now, and there is a big to do there, and it seems like a high percentage of the people who downloaded the expansion are having teh same problem. plus i just got an email from EA. it follows:

"We have discovered an installation problem with a limited number
of EA customers who downloaded Battlefield 2: Special Forces.
Unfortunately your account is one of those affected. If you try
to install Battlefield 2: Special Forces, you will see the error
message, "BF2CDKeyCheck.exe has encountered a problem and needs to
close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

We apologize for the problem and are working quickly to resolve it.
We expect to send you a follow-up email later today with a solution.

                  Please stay tuned,

                  The EA team"

So atleast they are aware there is a problem. just hope they get it fixed soon, before I get totally peeved.
