Hmm doesnt seem to work for me, i paste in the http://www.bf1942.idv.tw/modules/myd...d=305&lid=1546 link but because its a php file with the download and not a direct link, getright deletes it when I set it to 5 segments.

Ah im using the 5.2 version, are you using the 6 beta?

Yup just figured it out by installing 6 beta, using ie instead of firefox and setting getright to replace the save window in ie. Only getting 4k/sec on that second link though, 85k overall. Ah well the servers are still mostly empty so it doesnt matter that much, but there are 151 1.12 servers up so far, I guess I'll see you in one in about 20 minutes!

Actually I used Firefox. When I clicked on the 2nd link you can right-click on the download and choose properties to get the *proper* download URL.

yeah I wonder too if the one on the taiwanese page is ligit? also, when does most servers update to this patch, do I have to wait for the official release for that?

does this patch mean I'll get owned by sf weapons in vanilla bf2...?

I am asking because during the installation, it also installs a patch, but not sure what version is that.

Quiks!|ver, the patch is just to let BF2 players whi don't buy the Sf expansion pack play on the same servers as those that do.

The patch updates the game to version 1.1.2554-356.0

When you try to connect to a SF server running a SF map then you get a message letting you know that you have to buy the expansion to play it. Otherwise you connect to the server normally.

OK, so this isnt a patch to fix all the bugs in the game. Why dont people just use the filter to search for the servers with the same version.

Whats the point of joining a SF server if you dont have SF? Whats better?

Actually this patch is , IMHO, to help the SF players play on the BF:2 servers and not the other way around :)

Because browser and it's filters does not work as they should.
After all maybe this is a fix for a browser...well odd one...208mb:p

Seriosly I don't understand nature of this patch.Compatibility patch...wtf?
If you wonna play SF than buy it and play on SF servers...and if you don't want to than simply play BF2 on BF2 servers.Mixing SF and BF2 on same server is idiotic.

They aren't being mixed.

Imagine a SF player wants to play Wake Island. The only way he can do that is by playing on a BF2 server, but for that to happen he must be running the same version as the server.

So EA brings out a patch for the BF2 servers and BF2 clients that allow SF players to continue playing on the old maps. The BF2 clients need to have the info needed in respect to the new SF weapons that can be used on the old BF2 maps.


From EA Interview :

When you install and play the expansion you continue to build on your current profile. As you advance in rank you will gain access to weapons from the expansion to use in BF2. This means that there are no unique unlocks in the expansion but you unlock the possibility to use weapons from the expansion in the original game.

Does that make any sense? I'm confusing myself now :)
