With the arrival of SF, and the grapplin hook rope, do you think it will be possible to repel from Blackhawk with a mod?

Re: Blackhawk repelling (sp?)
im not sure but i dont think so it said that the grapplin hook can only attach to static objects meaning things that cannot move and permanantly stay still, so ill hafta say no but im not sure since i dont have SF...

Most likely. It'd probably take a fair amount of coding but I'd think it could be done. In fact it's possible the grappling hook code is left over from the BH repelling code that Trauma Studios made but was cancelled.

Wouldn't be to sure about that because, at this stage you can only attach the grappling hook to static objects, such as buildings. And the known collision issues in BF2 engine might cause some serious problems with lag. But then again in BFV it was possible to attach vehicles into ropes.

The problem here isn't whether or not we can attach it to vehicles, but rather if we can code the helicopter to be able to drop these ropes on demand, then have people climb down them.Originally posted by Sir. It's not a problem to attach the actual rope entity onto a chopper, but getting them to work with people bailing out and using the ropes may be a problem.

Re: Blackhawk repelling (sp?)
The battlefield engine ever since its incarnation cannot dynamically update a character who is suspended on either a ladder or zip line. Even in BF1942 getting on the ships, if the ship was moving the player would be actually in a static position but moving either up or down. This is why the zip line can only attach itself to static objects and not dynamic objects. The only way I have ever seen possible to do this is to build a pco vehicle (player control object) and build custom animations to simulate a character moving up/down a rope, a player who is in a vehicle is dynamically updated in his position and so therefore this would work. However this would require a lot of coding, animating and possibly modelling but however if anyone can come along with a model and a set of animations I gladly code it in.

i tried this on a 2 player server and it was so funny, did it on a black hawk the resault, it stood in mid air

Re: Blackhawk repelling (sp?)
The PCV idea is the only idea that makes this idea possible in theory. The only mod team that got this idea to slightly work was the DC but honestly I can not find any proof or links as to how they did it. Just heard that there was a picture that you could see it working.

Re: Blackhawk repelling (sp?)
Well after drinking a lot of coke, beer and tea ive nearly got some sort of repelling working. You have to use your imaginations a bit but well its a start :)

Re: Blackhawk repelling (sp?)
Should be possible, detach the rope from the hook or make a new rope with cloned animations and attach it to the blackhawk. Maybe this works, im too lazy to try it :p
