    GAU-12/U 25mm

Ah, well here we go. I was playing Gulf of Oman a few days ago and was told by a fellow teammate that a Cobra just attacked them and was going back to the ship, blah blah. So I make my way over in bombing mode as not to alert it as I was lining up my shot. I fired upon it with the machine guns and blew it up. As I was flying over the wreckage I noticed that there was a guy right below the Cobra trying to get in or something, who knows. The wreckage floats toward the poor guy and crushes him and gives me the kill. I am still not sure if him being crushed was the cause of this or not. Well, the result of that is as follows:

    Has anyone seen this before?

Heh, this game has been out for a few months, the expansion is out, and yet we are still discovering newer and newer ways to kill people,

        Nice find!

The GAU-12 Equalizer is a 25mm Rotary Chain Gun used by the Marines AV-8B Harrier II, think of it as the smaller brother to the GAU-8 30mm Avenger for the A-10A. But the MiG-29A that you piloted has a Gsh-30L 30mm Cannon, not a GAU-12. So I assume the game glitched in thinking the gun of your defeated bogey killed him.

Another strange thing, ever been by yourself on a server and you kill somebody no-way remotely close to you? I call those kills "Mind Bullets"!

            Re: GAU-12/U 25mm

Wasn't there a post a while back about someone killing someone with a KORD, which was the gun mounted on the side of the Z-8? Strange how the descriptions of the actual guns are in the game-files. I wouldn't have thought they would have had that specific of information programmed in. :)

i also read something a while ago about someone being killed by a "120 mm gun". I believe what happened was the wreckage of the gun on the cobra landed on the guy, and since you caused the wreckage, you got the kill. The 120 mm gun is the gun supposibly on the Mi-28, and it does the same thing if it lands on a guy. Though this is obviously a very rare thing...just like killing a person with a smoke grenade :p

                Re: GAU-12/U 25mm

120 mm is most likely from a tank, do you realize how huge 120mm round is? Even for a gunship it's still huge.

                Anyways, I believe vulcans for Mig-29 = J-10 = JSF-35 = F/A-18, it's logical for all of them to share one weapon.

LOL I wounder if the "real" weapons are in the game file why did EA choose to overwrite it so only "Cobra" shows up when you kill someone instead of "20mm chain gun" or something of that effect? Maybe the next patch?

They don't share one weapon, the Vulcan is a name for the American M61 20mm 6-barrel rotary chaingun. So, the F/A-18C has the M61A2 Vulcan, the F/A-35B has the GAU-12/U, the MiG-29A has the GSh-30L and the J-10 has the Chinese 23mm Cannon.

No, nobody gets a TK. In fact I don't believe it even counts as a suicide (like a 'no more'). You just die, and that's it. Kind of like if you fall off a cliff or slide down a hill and go SPLAT at the bottom. You die, but it's not technically a suicide because you don't lose points for it. I guess they call it like an accidental death or something, whereas a suicide is when you die from ordinance of some sort that you shot (rocket, nade, etc.).

Amazing how a specific weapon on a destroyed vehicle can be traced to a kill, but the damn AA turrets can't be fixed to actually show up on the kill messages when they should.
