Any experts out there with the G3?

I really love this weapon and don't think it gets the appreciation that it deserves, however, I find it very hard to master this weapon.

Don't get me wrong, I am very good with this weapon in close & medium range as the damage / round is intense, but however what I'm trying to figure out is how to actually line up headshots & snipe with this rifle.

For some reason, using the blade sight doesn't help a whole lot at those longer ranges and I seem to have problems hitting prone targets ... I'm wondering if someone can describe how accurate this weapon can be and how you would use it at those longer distances.

This is the only weapon I have yet to unlock and I really wish that I had now.
I chose the M95 when I got promoted to Master Sgt and absolutely hated it, but whenever I kill some asaulter and nick their G3 I love it.

Unfortunately the game stats simple don;t really allow this weapon to be used to sniping, it is simply not accurate enough and you will waste a lot of your (precious) ammo trying to...

Of course I could be worng but that is my experience. Medium range semi-auto and burst at close (instant death) do rule though.

I have absolutely no problem hitting targets are range with the G3 on singleshot mode. It has really low recoil so on single-shot mode it can be super deadly. And in close combat the full auto just dominates.

After spending some time with the gun I really came to appreciate it's power. It was my first unlock but for the longest time I never used it.

I really don't get why you would use this gun over the stock assault gun. The noob-tube is just so deadly that I can't imagine it makes sense to give it up for this gun.

Because grenades can be used for indirect fire, which can be more useful sometimes. And the G3 is great! It's a 'different' gun to the normal ones, so you have some variety.

I'd disagree about the recoil, I find it has a huge kick even in single shot. I can't hit a thing at long range, even with careful prone aiming and stationary targets. But it rules at medium/close range.

Use semi auto and use the iron sights at long ranges. Start aiming at the chest and fire very fast on semi. With the little kick, you will get your headshot. The G3 is so powerfull that you wil most likely get the kill before you even reach the head .

You do know why it's called a noob tube, cause noobs use it, and you're defending it, which gives us an example of what weapon u must be using in BF2 a lot. Plus, G3>M16 in CQC, plus, nades are so much more useful, i hate snipers on the building on the square. Noobtube can't reach em (and claymores make it impossible to climb it. Nades work, just pull the pin, and jump.

I absolutley LOVE this gun and i can snipe with it on auto use 2 to 3 shot bursts line up your target and i usually get a kill. I can usually take out the gay tubers b4 they have achance to see me and shoot their tube.

My biggest problem has been hitting prone targets though -- its difficult trying to estimate how far below the target you have to aim in order to score a hit [aiming at the head/body with the edge of the blade doesn't seem to be helping]

The advantage the G3 has over assault weapons when it comes to long range shootout is its recoil. It's low compared to others so you could quickly put out more shots accurately and quicker than other rifles.

I was once one of those that despised the G3, and questioned why anyone would unlock it, but theres just something about the gun that just feels so right. Its got great power, good accuracy, and looks and sounds great. You jus get attached to it after awhile. And I care not for the grenade launcher, never use that gun, to cheap for my liking, no fun or skill involved.

I enjoy the G3 but its not my primary gun for a couple of reasons...

(1) M16 is way more accurate. Cross hairs fit inside the G3 cross hairs.
(2) Lack of Ammo. 20 rounds 5 clips=100 rounds. 30 rounds 6 clips=180 rounds almost twice as much with stock weapons.
(3) Small clip and longer then normal Reload times
(4) No Newb Tube, yes I know its lame but it does come in handy agaist Jeeps and groups of infantry, plus I can hit People at long range with it.

I do use the G3 sometimes as a change of pace when im playing Assault, just to pratice. I enjoy it but its not my first pick for infantry wars.

BTW The above 4 reasons are my opinion and what I have found by playing the game...not based on what EA says about the weapon.

Excellent stopping power, the only down side is the small clip which is a shame.
