    missing terrain

I have been mapping since SoF2, and worked on Half-Life2 maps, as well as Far Cry, but I am stumped by this problem now in BF2.

I did the tuts, and have searched this topic to death without finding this specific issue. This issue has two parts, and I have uploaded images to one of my servers for reference.

I have tried creating my own map, but it crashes when you get to, and click on the "join" button. That is my first issue... I don't know why it does this. My second one is the one that has images... I have taken the map FuShe Pass and used "save as" to save as a new level. I have changed the name of the file etc so it shows up in the game. It even launches in the game.. not the issue here. The problem is missing terrain.

    1) missing terrain in editor
This image shows how the terrain goes black the closer you get to it in "detail texture mode".

This shows the same shot in the editor in "texture mode".

    2) missing terrain in game
This image shows how terrain is missing in game on my version of the map.

And finally, what it should look like in a shot from the real game FuShe Pass map.

*NOTE 1: Please ignore the low grade detail of the textures in game, I have it set to low for testing.

*NOTE 2: I have already reloaded software several times, loaded on two different machines, and I have not made any extra adjustments to the game files that could have caused this.

Can anyone tell me what I have missed that makes the textures disappear from the FuShe map? or why my "from scratch" map might be crashing at "join"??

      Re: missing terrain

Thanks for the input Snipers0, but I already read that thread and it does not really apply. I did find the reason for the missing textures here though:

        Re: missing terrain

the reasion why you cannot see the terrain in because you dont have the orginal editor files in the default maps, the files that tell it what textures you used, what layer, what settings u used,colour/detail/ and so on, so the editor cant show, or save the textures, detail, when you use SAVE AS .So when you get close to the ground/hill/ and it gos black, because thats where it changes from colour background, to detail textures, and htere not there. The only way i could think of correcting that is to , get the orginal eitor files, or retexture it you self, by makeing layers and painting the map, then pack it up (with out the editor files , big diff in size), and then i should work.
        mmmm i think:cry:
