    "please insert Install disc"

Well, we have the game working and such but when we clicked the shorcut menu it says "please be sure installation disc is in, and restart application" or somthing like that when we fixin' to play the game but its in there and we took it out and put back the CD hoping it'll be over but I guess not, its' still there. So we are updating it. is that ok?

Does it happen after you restart the PC too?

    Try updating anyway.

It could be because you have installed virtual drive/emulation software, and it somehow interfers with the operation of BF2, this happens on some systems not all. Uninstalling these or updating firmware of CD/DVD can help, or using latest chipset drivers and bios.

Odd thing is that, when that is the case and nothing helps, the solution often is to use a mini iso of the DVD or CD or a regular image of the dvd or cd and mount it in a virtual drive and it acts just like the real dvd or cd

Download Daemon Tools, version 4.00 has just been released.

It creates a virtual DVD/CD drive in My Computer. In Daemon Tools you mount a mini ISO or ISO of the CD, and it appears in My Computer as though the CD is in that drive.

You can create the ISO of the CD by e.g. using nero's imagerecorder or similar program. You can also download the mini iso on serveral site on the Internet if you choose to. It is 5 mb or less in size, where the full ISO that you create yourself is the entire CD and takes the same space as a CD on the harddrive.

              Re: "please insert Install disc"

I'm having the same problem with the DVD version. I tried using 2 different DVD drives and I get the same error. I put in a problem report with EA, but they gave me really lame things to try. At least I know I'm not alone. I wish I had something else to complain about this game, but for now its a non-starter.

Like someone has already posted , try using virtual cd/dvd drive tools Alcohol 120% / Anti-blaxx / VCD Hide / Daemon Tools and you will be good to go , but then again if you cant read the disk you may not be able to create an image . Apparently you can D/L a mini image if you are unable to create your own image .
