It wouldn't matter much.
Sure, the admins/owners of the server could hack their way up to massive scores or go on stats padding rampages, but who cares?
They are only going to have those points ON THEIR OWN SERVER.
NO information would be passed to the EA master server.

As an extra bonus, it would be possible to connect to these suckers even if the EA master is down.

People simply aren't understanding the concept.

Wargimp is right thats the impression I get from it. If thats the case I see no problem with it at all. It won't affect official stats and its not called "unofficial" for no reason.

I really doubt that it's going to happen.
One of the reasons EA didn't want eveyone to have a ranked server was because if people had access to the files, they could taper with the files reporting a score of 100000000000.
Like Sickmind, if you can remeber back that far.

They already did that, without having the ranked server files lol.

I believe the original posted is talking about ABR which looks like a very promising addition. ABR will even allow a group of server to join together so that stats can be earned on any server attached to the group. It also allows admins to customise ranks (I know there's one running already which uses 1860's US Cavalry ranks and badges) as well as to award promotions and medals in the field - (e.g. an admin or a player of a certain ranks who is given the privalges may award a medal for a particular act of bravery).

It's a brillant idea IMO. Adds more diversity to an extremely homoginous game. Coming Soon... IRON Phoenix's PRMM server with ABR.

Something that just occured to me is that these unoffical ranked servers will be free to run CUSTOM MAPS!

Since there's no problems with a poorly balanced map allowing people to abuse their global EA stats, folks can run whatever the hell they feel like!

If I could find a Python programmer willing to work with me I could easily make a private ranking system. I have the programming knowledge to all I need is a python programmer to write a script that will output all BF2 server logs to a txt file. Once that is done I can work with the logs and filter them out.

Yep, and it's possible to run it with any mod they wish to use also.

I see ranked custom map servers and normal maps with altered things that should`nt be ranked !!!!!! !.I have said this long ago! there are people/clans out there that have been cheating?stat fixing all along

Seriously, that game makes me wanna break things. Long waits while dead, overly finniky realizm, and in your face propaganda just don't cut it for me.

As a trainer, it's perty cool.
As a recrutment tool it's evil.
As a game, it's no fun.

What is ABR
ABR is a collection of scripts, which provide the same functionality as the original official battlefield 2 ranks, without having to pay for a ranked server.

Why ABR
Obviously, ABR costs nothing and has support for mods, and above all, the stats rankings and even the criteria of all awards are configurable, to suit your needs.
