Re: [The Real Proof] Ultra-High Vs. Normal high...Corrected picture comparison

I have a 6800GT (1GB RAM and AMD64 3200+) and while I can run the game in Ultra-High and it is prefectly playable on foot I get some stuttering when driving/riding in jeeps and when respawning (plus jets are unusable).

Even on high I still get some stuttering if I try flying a jet at full spped across a map at very low level (which is understandable suicidal).

Medium is not as pretty but still looks pretty cool and is 100% playable all the time no matter who many units are on screen and no matter how fast I am going...

If I stretched the machine out to 1.5 or 2 GB RAM I think it would be fully playable on High...

I don't see how you consider the latter of your screenshots the "super super" ones... They look much worse. Lots of jaggies. Your really only hindering the performance by tweaking in the nView settings, since that overrides the in-game AA/AF settings, right?

The point is you can turn AA and AF up without changing your settings to Ultra high and it will look exactly the same as settings being on high. DONT USE ULTRA HIGH IT'S WORTHLESS.

              Is it false?

You put source and bf2 engine side by side and Source kills it. My medium\low settings in source kill BF2 on high\ultra high.

Just look how crap that tree is.

Indeed you would... I've the same cpu and gfx card plus 2GB ram and can play 1280x1024x70hz all high with 4xAA... although I lower down the dynamic lighting and shadows to medium plus stick with 2xAA to have 80-100 fps whilst flying.. :)
So consider buying another gig of ram if you want to turn the detail right up.

Regarding the original post, there's little difference in the screenies. At least not enough difference to get me excited..
