Black Screen of DOOM!

Ok I got the game (BattleField 2) installed and as soon and I clicked to play it and it went through everything and it got stuck on a black screen and when I did the CTRL + ESC to see if any programs interfereing with the game but when I looked it said error. what should I do? the game is new! too so it can't be the discs, can it? I got all the required stuff to play it, so anyone had this problem? could you help me?

How long have you left it to wait? Mine takes a few seconds to load up the ea logo thing and then it's on its way, and I jsut got the game too :) (finally!)

No see when I double clicked the short cut it loads and stops at black screen and then it says error and I waited a while but no.

It doesn't say anything just is a black screen the error thing never popped up but when I did the whole CTRL+ESC it said error and I right clicked it and exited it and the game never loaded.

Go to your shortcut for BF2, right-click and edit fullscreen 1 to fullscreen 0 in the Target text box. Start the game from the shortcut.

This makes BF2 run in a window and when running iin a windows error msgs that don't appear in fullscreen will be show, and readable.

Well I just fixed it, but my dad is having trouble installing his, when they load up the maps ( during installation ) it says error; 121 retry? I've heard that it happens to him every game he buys and he re-installs it till it work is this a good method?

How did you fix your problem?? Other reading the thread might appreciate knowing what your solution was.

If he gets the error everytime installing games and such it sounds like a install engine error or something it is dependent on. Hard to say with without further details.
