when i 1st baught BF2 i updated my vid card to a NVIDIA 5500 chip, thats about 4 months ago or so, will my 5500 be able to meet the 5700 minimum requirments?

i have plans of buying a bran new computer about this time next year (hoping my parents will contribute a little thu x-mass) so im wondering will i be able to play BF2 SF with my card hopefully without buying another.

and if i have to buy another card because this card is relitivly new can i get a trade in. (the store i baught it from is non chain.):hmm:

5500 is below 5700. 5700 is the minimum. Therefore the 5500 is below the minimum requirements.

They probably won't accept a trade on a card that old.

I though they said that the requirements would be the same...



Edit : Oh well, I just saw on the BF2 site that the min req is a 5700 too, but I have a 5600 XT and I can run it fine...so I guess that Spec Ops will act the same

I'd imagine the tear gas, shock grenades, and night vision will bump up the requirements a tad.

There is a good chance that you will still be able to run SF but it will be at a very diminished capacity. I have had below minimum computer specs on many other games and still have been able to play. Just not on beautiful high settings. However, the comment about the tear gas and shock grenades is most likely very true so you may hurt in those areas. I'm running an overclocked 5700 Ultra and I think even I will have some difficulties. Only time will tell though. Good luck.

I have been BF2 playing on a PCI (not express) GeForce 5500, with 512 ddr2 ram, I play it on the "low" settings except for geometries and effects which are on high, I though that was pretty good. I do get stutter at the start but it is not an issue after a minute or so. I am assuming (since I pre ordered the game) that Special forces will run.

yes, I have the BFG "overclocked" 5500 (256 mb), I hope it works the same as in normal bf2
