quick weapon change whores

just a while ago i was playing and i happened to sneak up on an AT guy. he shot his rocket at me but missed. the really funny thing is how fast he recovered from firing a rocket and shooting his MP5 at me. his gun came out firing as soon as his rocket left the launcher!!! sounds like us BF2 players have a new annoyance to deal with...

WHEN YOU SHOOT AN AT ROCKET, YOU ARE ALLOWED TO INSTANTLY (AND I MEAN INSTANTLY) SWITCH TO YOUR MP5 AND INSTANTLY (AND I MEAN INSTANTLY) FIRE OFF SHOTS WITH ABSOLUTLY NO LAGTIME WHATSOEVER. IF YOU SHOOT AN AT ROCKET AT SOMEONE YOU CAN FOLLOW IT UP INSTANTLY (AND I MEAN INSTANTLY) WITH MP5 SHOTS WHILE YOUR ROCKET IS STILL IN THE AIR!!!

I don't quite read ya on this one.
Are you saying he was just really quick at changing weapons, or do you suspect him of having some sort of script?

Quick changing is a skill... and one I'm still workin on improving myself.

it's not really a skill, i know exactly what he did, i just never thought to use it myself. you just fire a rocket and press 3 to switch to your mp5. your gun pops out the moment you hit 3. all in all, the process of firing a rocket, switching to mp5, and shooting your mp5 takes about 0.5 seconds or less.

this is really nothing new if you play alot of CS. i use the same trick there as does everyone else, but on CS there's a small lag time as you wait for the animation of drawing your gun to play out. this is not the case in BF2.

I bound NextWeapon to Mouse4, and WeaponSlot3 to Mouse5. It enables me to quickly change back to my main gun at any time, especially while moving, but also quickly cycle through everything with greater precision than the mousewheel.

meh, i just use the number keys . sucks though when you have to switch to your wrench or C4 lol.

Depends on the weapon. The support weapons (especially the PKM) have a "draw" time. I'm painfully aware of this since I tend to lob lots of 'nade while playing support. There's nothing like trying franticly to fumbling with your PKM when someone comes around a corner at point blank.

really? i never knew that. you ought to try it out with AT, there isn't really any perceptible lag time when you switch weapons.

I have my grenade set to mouse button 3...and my primary weapon set to Caps lock. I use that for quick changes. I have my Knife mapped to "E" for those quick pokes.

really? i never knew that. you ought to try it out with AT, there isn't really any perceptible lag time when you switch weapons.

ya, the support primary weapons have a delay for the "whip-out" of the bipod before you can actually shoot the weapon. pain in the butt. as if i need to run around the place with the bipod attached, but it's reasonable since it'd be a pain for the coder to animate based on when the player wanted to go prone. i guess a necessary evil.

Ya, i hate it when you use all your grenades, and start running putting down ammo bags to resupply on the move, THen you see a guy with an m4, and yu quickly whip out the PKM, but you can only pull off 0 or 1 shots before he kills you. I hate the fact that you have to take out the bipod, don't you wish you only needed to put the bipod on when you went prone.

Recently i started seeing a lot of bullet whores around. There are lots of ways to get a kill, and yet they have to resort to bullets to do that.
