    BF2: The real TF2?

is it just me, or are there many similarities with BF2 and the much anticipated TF2(team fortress 2). TF2 was supposed to have a commander, stationary gun placements, vehicles, huge levels, voip, etc. TFC of course already has some similarities with the BF series because of the classes, although BF is not quite as cartoony as the TF series. all in all i believe that all these annoying TF2 delays are directly related to BF2s release. valve is gonna have to go back to the drawing boards...

here's a link for reference on the various features that are/were supposed to be in TF2:

Developing your own engine gives you an asset that you can turn around and sell to other people.
Licensing costs on popular engines are very expensive.

Dunno, but I wasn't too impressed with their screenshots, whatever they are. BF2 beats it IMO.

i was never impressed with TF2. first time i saw those screenshots like 5 years ago i was like "bah". whatever valve does, it had better be something like the TFC that everyone knows and love, because i'm not willing to play a BF inspired TF game.

Dont think its delays has anything to do with BF2 ... more likely the popularity of CS, which took priority over TFC/ TF2.

They're apparantly still working on TF2 and some TF2 code is in the HL2 code (which is freely available via the Steam/ Source SDK).

I doubt it'll ever come out and if it does it wont be as good as it should be.

www.fortress-forever.com is a community made TF for HL2, which looks promising
