Quick question re: fighter takeoff

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I did several forum searches, couldn't find this info... sorry if I missed it somewhere else.

Anyway, on with the question.

I frequently see players taking off in fighter jets by somehow "tipping" the aircraft back, to the nose is pointing up at an angle, then hit the afterburners and achieve an 'almost' vertical take-off.

It's bugging me because I can't figure out how they are doing it. LOL

I don't have any use for it, but it looks kinda cool, and I'm annoyed at myself for not being able to figure it out.

How are they doing it?

I think its called SVTOL. When you get in the jet, just keep pulling back and it will tip back, then just hold it and hit full throttle+afterburners. I LOLd so hard when I saw it the first time in the demo.

It's only doable with the F35 or when the airfield ends with a slope down. When in an F35, just go to hover mode until you are aiming upwards, then full thrust with burners and off you go.

Oh... I never even thought of just pulling back on the stick with 0 throttle. I assumed they were doing something funky with the throttle at the same time.

All I could accomplish was taxiing in reverse off the flight deck. :p Self-ownage.

you don't have to hover. just aim your nose up and you will shoot up into space.

Ah yea, thats right, i just go to hover to do the hover up, point vertical and rocket launch 90°.

But you have to put throttle in reverse for 1-2 seconds to make the nose go up.

a couple weeks ago, i saw someone do a vertical take off like a space rocket with an F35 on oman while he was spinning around like an arrow. it was hilarious, he was just hovering in the air and spinning like crazy and then just crashed. it would have been cool if he took off like that.

Wouldn't be particularly hard to do, all you have to do is spin while taking off, which would be completly pointless.

My point is it would be completly pointless to do as it would gain no tatical advantage to your team or yourself.
