Ok thats the problem. I have done it just like that before but whenever I run the installer it doesn't update them like that. It's weird it's almost like a laptop where you have to completely get rid of the old driver and then install it. Although I can't do that through the device manager/update driver to get it up to date through the bios or whatever.

What does the installer say when you install the drivers??

You shouldn't use the device manager, the installer should handle it all.

EDIT: If the installer detects new hardware after you uninistall remember to click cancel to those or it migt install the drivers that XP comes with, and that you don't want as it is by far the latest.

Well ive done the add/remove programs thing, I did run drivercleaner once too. But I don't think I ever restarted in safe mode to do that so I will try that and get back to you.

Dude you are a life saver. Although I am a moron too, I wasn't downloading the display driver before lol I thought all you needed was the control center. Same goes for the sound card too.
