Great, another EA/Dice hater. The games fine, it's just you. Besides you know you're going to buy it anyway. As for me I'd rather pick it up in the store, don't want to pay shipping and I never trust the USPS or any other shipping companies for that matter.

Any vendor that breaks streetdate and gets caught gets heavily fined and is barred from selling that particular company. Streetdate is EXTREMEMLY SERIOUS! Companys like Dice and EA spend millions of dollars advertising games that are coming out, why would they spend all of that $$ if vendors were not going to kepp street dates. Your claim that "reputable" companies will break street is absolutely baseless. Call any of these companies, they will tell you the same thing. It is always best to know what you are talking about before you put your fingers to teh keybord.

Im downloading it for various reasons.

          1. Broken ankle, so i cant actualy do anything other than sit around and maybe hobble about on crutches for the next month....

          2. ill still get it 3 days earlier than the Uk date....

          3. Want to realy test this 10mb cable line

          4. Im sad enough to sit and count down the minutes till unlock and start playing.... just like i did with hl2.

except this time i dont have work due to the ankle and i dont have to leave right after i load the first level!

          wootage.

nope...if you buy it through the EA downloader from the UK...you won't be able to play on the 22nd. Only the 25th...check the EA site. You'll probably get an error if you try to install on the 22nd or it'll still be counting down.

Lol. I liked that one. It's funny that you think I don't know what I'm talking about.

Have you ever heard of Best Buy? Thought so. Just like the Logitech G15, and BF2, both were out BEFORE the street date. BF2 was shelved and for sale a day before the street date. The G15 . . . possible WEEKS before the street date.

Ah, yes. We can't forget the good ol' Wal-Mart. They also had BF2 and various other games at the day before street release, without preordering. I guess Wal-Mart showed those big bad game developers whose boss . . .

What about EBGames? How about YOU call and YOU ask to preorder a game. When you do so, ask when YOU can pick it up. They will say 1-2 days BEFORE the street date (depending on game title, and depending on shipping). I witnessed it myself when my friend purchased Metroid Prime for the GC, not to mention a relative of mine was a manager at 3 EBGames. I'm pretty sure I know how pre-orders and pick ups work.

The only true standard the street date holds is on that date, any retailer who is suppossed to carry it will have it on their shelves.

But by all means, please try it out for yourself. You'll enjoy getting the game just a few hours before others.

*Note: I never said reputable companies do it and get caught. I just said they do it. If they got caught, well, they wouldn't be reputable now would they?

You need to log onto the BF2 SF Account Server, so it won't happen for anyone until the exact time. Downloading it, is a rather simple way to go.

I'm sure if the SF haters just really try to ask mommy nicely she'll give you the money... mention "doing homework' and you're gold
