Is it Illegal, Is it possible, Will it get me banned?

Good day Gentlemen,

I was wondering, is it illegal to install BF2 on another machine at
my home?

Is it one copy of the game per PC?

Also, will it get me banned on not complete the install because
when you install the game it connects to the UBI or Gamespy servers
during installation for Key validation?

I have two boys 10 & 11, that want to play against each other, or
with each other online, but the wife would kill me if I went out and
bought another copy! Frankly, they are lucky she even lets them play!

The thing is I do not want to try to install it on another machine, and
then get myself banned and screw myself, while trying to make my sons
happy campers! :cry:

If this is something you do not feel comfortable discussing in these forums
please feel free to shoot me an email. I would appreciate ANY help as I
am getting tired of the boys fighting over who gets to play next, and
besides.. If they are playing, how am I supposed to get on!!

The system is exactly the same as VALVe's 'STEAM' client, you can install the game on as many machines as you like but you can only run ONE instance of it at any time. So you can install at work and at home and play on either machine at different times no problem but you cannot run the same copy of the game on 2 machines at the same time.

Unfortunately to do what you want to do you will need another copy of the game.

Yes you will need another copy to play online. Each player online has to have a unique key.

What about for local play?

Could I install the game onto another machine for a LAN type
session between the two boys??

They like the tanks and helocopters and stuff..

By installing it on another machine, will that put me
at risk of being banned?

What if I am downstairs on my machine, and I want to play
another game, so I let them use the other machine (the 2nd) installation
to connect to their exisiting accounts?

Is it 1 key per machine, or simple only 1 key can be online at one time
regardless of what machine it is installed on?

You can do what you want offline. Online you can only use one key. No two people can use one key in any online servers at the same time.
