i'm sorry how is a 15+ yr old model important for noobs? it helps you model how?
and how does this warrent it having its own button in the objects section.... it isnt the most versatile object...

                      Re: my first model

i pretty much taught myself thru tutorials on the net... alot of hitand miss... tht and having the drive to learn there are alot of good tutorials out there if you are prepared to sit down with them in another window and go through them step by step.... i guess my biggest tip is to visually break down the thing you want to model in to manageable pieces and work from there - always keep an eye open for a new method of doing something - never be afraid to back up your file and have a bit of a f#@k around... time + effort always pay off :)

                          Re: my first model

yeah basically with my first model i wanted to try out everything i had been thinking about and learning... as for tut's my best advice is hunt hunt hunt and bookmark like crazy... also know what to type - for e'g type 3dsmax gun tutorial
, or gmax uvw unwrap tutorial etc etc - always add tutorial otherwise tonnes of other stuff will come up....... also go to the bf2 mod tools open beta forums... lots of related stuff in there... and start simple and work your way up - if you are really befuddled i'd say try a knife first - should be able to get tht outta 1 box..... good luck :)

with time you get better - now tht i have 3ds its all getting better here is my latest model (with polycounts in mind)
