    Devil's Perch: (US Navy SEALs vs. MEC Special Forces)
    This is an uphill battle for the US troops any way you look at it. While in the bigger versions of the map, they have a permanent base, they have to move up a windy hill covered with buildings and scrub in the dead of night. Every inch forward is a battle until one of the high ground positions can be taken. The map changes quite a bit at the largest version as the SEAL starting positions are either far to the east or north from a submarine off the coast.

    Ghost Town: (Russian Spetsnaz vs. British SAS)
    Each version of this map is fairly small with the bigger versions gaining more capture points. This town map is pretty cool. Lots of buildings make for some terrifically paced combat while some interiors are more complex than we remember them from BF2. Littered around the streets are Russian regular vehicle shells creating even more cover and blocking the way for vehicles. Plenty of opportunity to go rooftop to rooftop here.

    Iron Gator: (US Navy SEALs vs. MEC Special Forces)
    This is one of the maps unavailable in single player and is probably one of the more interesting ones. The Iron Gator is actually the USS Essex Aircraft Carrier, which the MEC decided to attack. The small version of the map is the carrier only and once you get on it, you'll understand why. While the deck itself is pretty small, there's a lot of room to run around in its belly. Capture points sit inside the carrier on all versions meaning players are going to have to get out of their vehicles and remember how to use a gun as they navigate the labyrinth of the Essex.

    Leviathan: (US Navy SEALs vs. MEC Special Forces)
    This is the other map that isn't available in single player. The MEC attacks the US again in this mission at one of their nuclear submarine bases. Notable in this map is the body of water sitting in the middle with all of the buildings and roads surrounding the harbor. Each version of the map is pretty different offering up different sections or all of the harbor.

    Mass Destruction: (Russian Spetsnaz vs. Rebels)
    This is another tight map without a ton of room making for a fast pace fire fight. There is a lot of cover here as this chemical weapons plant has all kinds of abandoned scrap heap-like areas. The map opens up for higher numbers of players, but it's still going to be a constant fight with plenty of dying involved.

    Night Flight: (British SAS vs. Insurgents)
    This night map might have the largest amount of dark space in the game, but it also has a lot of indoor environments that are pretty well lit making it difficult to see much of the time. Players that use that to their advantage will do well. Maps are placed in pretty interesting locations here, including a cargo plane on the runway that has crates strewn around it for cover but a large open space in order to get there at all. Fast vehicles are a must to get close enough to take the flag.

    Surge: (Russian Spetsnaz vs. Rebels)
    This probably has the coolest set piece in the expansion. Rebel forces have moved in to claim an abandoned missile site for their own and have managed to put together a huge missile, which sits in the north of the map. The small version of the map is great for concentrated battles with plenty of cover for infantry and tons of fast vehicles sitting around as well as some armor. Players with zip-lines will love to spawn in the northernmost base and zip down into the meat grinder capture point by the missile itself. It's a fun ride. The larger versions of this one expand significantly into new areas that are a little more reminiscent of classic Battlefield.

    Warlord: (British SAS vs. Insurgents)
    The last map also has a pretty nifty set-piece. This is a narrower map running north and south through a town. One main road shoots up the middle while a couple more brang to the sides offering alternate routes up to the insurgent warlord's palace. The stronghold itself is pretty neat including a couple of capture points and several entrances and exits. It's surrounded by a wall in the back, but anybody with a zip line should be able to figure a way around that. There are some terrific choke points for action in this map, especially the steps leading from the main road to the palace. This could end up being a fan favorite.


    Special Equipment

    Snipers and Spec Ops get Zip Lines, Grappling Hook for Assault and Anti-Tank
    only, however they stay put where they are (unless you pick them up) so other players (including enemies) can take advantage of them.

    British SAS Support get Gas Grenade Launcher

    Av it.... this exspansion is gonna rock!! You can complain all you want about BF2 being buggy and all and your right, but its still the best game out there and your just missing out if you dont get it...

    Just a few more days

        Those maps sound like fantastic fun. I also note:

        This is one of the maps unavailable in single player...
        This means there is single-player, hurrah, my final question about SF is answered.

          yeah, i think the "Night Flight" is the level off that video released ages ago with the really loud wtfbbq dance music.

          "Devil's Perch" is off the Intro/Trailer.


          Can't wait, thanks for this info! Now all we need is map pictures!
