does anyone know who is the best commander right now?
i mean the person who basically plays only commander, and is a very good one. because i would like to know who he/she is and play w/em.

It's me. :p Don't let the stats fool you. But seriously the way the commander points work the commander score is really not any indication of how good a commander is. In fact it could be the opposite. A player who takes the commander job, then fights at the front since he gets more points this way is a pretty crappy commander.

IMO any commander who actually pays attention to the battle, uses UAV all the time, scans, and spots etc is a good commander. (actually giving commands is optional since they are rarely follows)

I put in 200+ hours as SL and SM before I really took to playing the commander position. But as of late I've been doing it a fair amount, and would love the idea of having guys on my team that listen to and follow orders :) I think I do a fairly good job of it, playing passive only, spotting things like crazy, and using the assets to help my team out...

{TA}FireStorm. i've played with him a lot on karkand. he puts up uavs without having to request them when he sees you trying to attack back bases, he drops supplies when he sees your tank/apc is damaged, he does regular scans and even takes care of enemies trying to take out our assets and if they do he doesn't depend on anyone to repair them. almost all of my wins on karkand have been with firestorm as commander. BEST COMMANDER I'VE PLAYED WITH SO FAR.

Never played on a server with a top ranking commander before but I did play on a karkand server once and we had this commander who was a madman with the UAV. Usually the mediocre commanders will drag ass putting up UAVs, they don't realize that the UAV takes all of 5 seconds to reload I guess, this guy though never stopped deploying UAVs for the entire round it was ****in fantastic to play with him as commander. He always placed artillery in just the right spots too and he would put supply drops in groups of two or three so you could heal/reload/repair at them faster.

Played with him and under him in the old Total-War tourny...

I guess he had a late start because BF2 wouldn't work with his ATI gfx card. So he's obviously putting in a lot of work to get the top spot!

Yup.

|cypher00fus runs a server and plays 10 hours a day as comander on Karkand. If you do ANYTHING to stop him from winning, you get kicked. That includes if you happen to be on the enemy side!

yeah, yesterday i was playing on a 24/7 wake only server, and the admin is a jet whore. if he doesnt get the jet, he either teamkills, or he kicks the person who took it.

well i was on U.S. and he was on Chinese. he comes over to the carrier right away and starts spawn killing us. he would typically get about 5-6 kills per bomb because of my dumb team. well, i got mad so i started waiting for the jet. it spawned and i took off as fast as i could. i basically stayed low and as far away as possible as i could from him. i went back over to our carrier, and saw him. then i got behind him and started following him. started learning his patterns in the sky, and his reaction to me locking on to him etc. well, after about 2 min. of following him, i got as close as possible (within a foot) and automatically switched to the A2A missles and shoved 2 of them up his ass (out of like 5 fired). and he got REALLY ****ed, because this guy hadnt died in the jet yet, and his score was pretty good. and then about 1-2 minutes after i killed him, i got kicked from the server with a message saying the server admin kicked me. (keep in mind the one that got ****ed off was the admin).

so...yeah. that sucks.

ps, i was trying to use the search function and not create yet another thread about this issue, but this was the only one i could find with any viable leads.

I don't really play commander that much. I usually go infantry, but occasionaly go in a plane/heli if its available.

I really dislike the kind of commander who is always, "enemy infantry spotted", "enemy infantry spotted", "enemy infantry spotted", "enemy infantry spotted", "enemy infantry spotted", "enemy tank spotted".....etc

Can't hear that helicopter sneaking up from behind...

Id rather a commander that spots a lot than not spotting at all.

Had a commander that didnt spot **** the other night on karkand, I came into the chemical factory in my tank and there was a 2 apcs and a tank on the other side, if he had spotted or put a UAV over the area i could have waited for our own APCs instead of taking 2 apc rockets and a tank shell for instant death. If you see an armour convoy shagging spot it, whether or not your commander.

The commander was actually near the cp they were at as well, the server was quiet :| thats another thing i hate, commanders who get involved with the fighting.

same here, if you arent under a uav, you might be at the end of a surprise attack. but if your commander keeps you up to the second where enemies are, the element of surprise is decreased. if i command, i spot any and everything.

I've played with/under FireStorm several times and there is no way he cheats. He just does extremely well as commander of the USMC on a 24/7 Karkand server.

ps. nice job commanding. at the end of two months of playing bf2 when it came out, i was like 532 out 700,000+
. but grew tired of sitting still while others tore peeps new buttholes. :0)
