    Am I the only one?

When I read these forums, I feel like I'm the only one who's NOT having problems with Battlefield 2. (I guess it's only natural that the people posting to the forums are the ones having problems.) Ok I'm going to say it. Ready for this? Here goes. I don't think Battlefield 2 is all that buggy. I think user carelessness is often mistaken for bugginess.

I'm sorry, but if you're a PC gamer you need to be very anal about your machine and make sure all drivers, software, and patches are completely up to date. You also probably need to just accept the fact that Windows XP needs to be reinstalled about every 6 to 8 months if you're installing games often. That's just the way it is. It's not your PC's fault, and it's not EA's fault. It's Microsoft's fault. And when you're not reinstalling Windows XP, you need to be patching it as often as you can. Keep your hard drives de-fragged and don't leave your machine constantly booted up. It does it good to power down every now and then and it also helps to clear out your system memory.

Aside from server hiccups and the recent server maintenance they've been doing, I really have never had any trouble with this game at all. I just keep my Windows install clean and free of spyware and viruses and my tower fans free of dust and debris, which keeps everything running a lot cooler. If you're REALLY a PC gamer, you HAVE to care about this stuff. There is a whole slew of FREE software that will keep your machine safe and sound. You can literally build a security suite out of freeware such as AVG antivirus, AdAware, SpyBot Search and Destroy, ZoneAlarm firewall, Microsoft AntiSpyware (provides free realtime spyware scanning), etc. Another big favor you can do yourself is to stop using Internet Explorer and switch to Firefox.

With an exclusively online game like Battlefield 2, there is going to be stuff that EA has to do on their end to make your FREE online experience more enjoyable. It's something you have to live with and you may have to spend one night not playing the game. I know how hard that is; trust me, I'm addicted to this game even after having it for months. Any game I can play for this long and still have a new experience every time I load it up is worth well more than $50 to me.

And no, I don't work for EA.

There are a few bugs ingame, but installing, starting etc... have not really been an issue for me either.

Occasionally i'll get a crash to desktop but that's rare, and expected with computers.

OVerall, it's not that buggy. Just as the first post said, people don't take care of their PC and have problems.

I dont think its to bad bar a few ingame bugs but you just DEAL with those. My only real issues are with my ATI card and f***ed up graphics once in awhile which freeze my PC or reboot it. I know the prob though and the fix so I tend not to bitch about it too often.

Its not bad at all but people just whine and moan all the time and its just exhausting. We all pretty much like it its just some people will bicker about the smallest detail. Terds >.<

The game isn't the problem, the people playing the game is the problem.
Just last night, I was trying to have a nice game, and this idiot..... oh, forget it, what's the point?

Re: Am I the only one?

There are some confirmed bugs in the game which a large number of people confirmed.... including the server browser and red/blue and few others. if you are not having these ones then you are very lucky.

One major "problem" with bf2 is that it is cpu/video intensive. a lot of the hardware you buy is already overclocked by the manufacturer. This creats a lot of problems that the people through on EA/DICE. For example my friend bought a new nVidia 7800GT eVGA card. the recommended clock speed by nvidia is 450/1050. it was clocked at something like 550/1250. we solved the freezing problems by lowering the clock speed of that eVGA card.

People try always to max their video/sound settings and that is one reason why many of them have many problems.

Aisde from occasional freezes (which is probably gpu overheat), I a do not have serious problema with the game.

ATI cards have more problems with the game because the GPU's temperature is usualy very high for bf2/ATI combination. I had an ATI RADEON X850XT PE card in the past and that one had a lot of problems with bf2. the temperature of the gpu reached 90C normaly during game play. I had to install a better Arctic cooler on it to solve the problem. ATI says that this temp is fine for the card (the card wont die!) but that is one reason why you may have some freezes or corrupted graphics from time to time (Aside from the previous drivers problems).

I know my freezings arent an overheating issue , Ive checked that..Im running a ATI 9800 Pro, but like I said before its probably the card itself.."bitches to herself quietly in the corner for buying it"..mutter mutter..

I am sure your system is working slower than what it should be! try reinstalling xp after those three years and notice the difference. I think the guy who suggested that you have to reinstall xp every 8 months or so is correct. I consider myself pc junkie! I know the details of windows and the hardware down to very significant details.. I can tell you that you'd better install xp after three years if you keep installing/reinstalling software very often (like me!). Actually I will be very surprised if you say that you ran your system for three years and you are not having nay problem and the speed is still the same.

BTW... if your system is 3 years old then how come you can play this game?!?! :hmm: :hmm: :hmm: :hmm: :hmm:

Only problem ive ever had with BF2 was the first weekend it was released i couldnt get online with it and i couldnt be arsed to fix it. 3 days after i bought it i opened the ports for it and never looked back.

Using an ATi800Pro and never had a prob with graphics or owt.

                          The game is fine !

I have a 9800Pro and it runs the game with no graphics problems whatsoever. Its probably the drivers. Cat 5.6 is the last set of drivers that doesnt corrupt the graphics on BF2.

Hmm Ive tried those shadow, still get probs. Not as often but they are still there. IMHO the driver I had the least probs with was 5.1...
But like I said I know it's the ATI and I am not gunna bitch about it :)
