    Home Point Defence

I’ve seen many servers mention no base camping or only Special Forces allowed in enemy base area.

Of course I respect this however I often wonder why this is a prerequisite in the first place.

I find too many players don’t bother about defence in this game, so many fools running around thinking about one thing. The Score Bored.

Fact is, this game is based on control of the map, you fail in this, and you lose simple.

So why is it so terrible to imagine the enemy roaming thought-out home base?

If players actually considered base defence there would be no reason to rule out doing the same for home base.

As a Special Forces player I often infiltrate enemy home base when the above is not mentioned.

After taking out key objectives I then move onto stealing enemy vehicles left unmanned and make good use of them.

At the end of the day its server rules and should be upheld no matter the logic.

However, those who do own servers consider this.

Servers should not promote players to be less vigilant especially when considering their home base point.

It’s not just a place to start on the map, (and in many eyes enemy free).

It’s often the backbone of the entire force if not this, a very important aspect that must be taken into account during game.

Simply stating that it is an enemy free zone seems to favour those that wish to remove this important aspect of the game in place of pursuing the other objectives, favouring those that can’t be bothered with defence as most know that this is already a lacking factor in game.

Well writen. I agree 100%. My 2 cents worth: If the enemy is incompetant enough to actually lose all other tickets and not have any squad leaders alive out in the field, then they deserved to be raped up their ass. After the 4th or 5th round of this they will realise that its their own stupidity that gets them there every time.

A suggestion to our fellow Spec ops players out there, instead of destroying the tanks and helis and what not....why not take them, drive them out of the way and hide them....the time it takes for an empty vehicle to self destruct is WAY longer then the time it takes to respawn. That entire time the enemy is with out many of his primary offensive weapons.

I agree completely. It is my personal belief that, regardless of class, you should always act according to your chosen "profession", if you will.

Act as a team member rather than a slave to the score board.

While it is up to the individual player, base defense should be allowed. After all, it is YOUR base; where YOUR vehicles respawn and YOUR team mates regroup.

        Puffy,

In the Project Reality Mini Mod (this is like my 20th plug on that mod, but I love it), they have it so you can actually not steal the enemy's vehicles. You are locked out of them! I love it. It's like you weren't trained in how to drive their vehicles, which reduces base camping and promotes infiltration instead of storming in like a 5-year-old in a china shop.

As for "do not infiltrate our base", that's more or less an open invite. They might as well just say "hey, we're not home right now. please rape the crap out of our assets and leave a message after the beep"

I play SpecOps quite often, too, and more often than not the enemy's main base, whether captureable or not, is a prime target. That is where their artillery and scanning assets are, that's most likely where their commander hides, and that is where you can score some easy kills on the guys camping helos and jets.

Any server that tries to enforce unrealistic ideals will only flush out players that do not share their passion to castrate the action.

          Re: Home Point Defence

I think this game is one of the most team orientated games I’ve played or at least has the potential to be.

There was a similar problem with the community back in the days when I played Vietcong.

Players had a real problem with people camping, I hate that term used as criticism especially in a game of jungle warfare.

About half that community felt this way.

Players where booted from servers, as players that cause real problems for the opposition within this game do.

That is, if they take a few lives, take out a couple of strategic objectives and then head out of their home base with a helicopter for example.

It’s happened to me too, regardless of the fact that it stated no objection to this when loading.

I’m glad that I’m not alone this, personally I’ve had a lot of fun causing mayhem at the enemy’s home point while my brethren use me as a spawn location.

It’s a shame that people are not more willing to be prepared to wait the wait for the sake of really helping there team out by defending those most important objectives, Artillery, Radar and of course the UAV station.

I’ve seen lines of Spec ops head to these locations with no resistance aside from the odd person spawning just after he got blown up in say the Helicopter, and of course the commander now and then.

I’ve often taken on this defence role and as a matter of fact, I find myself in real gripping combat situations more frequently than one might think.

Absolutely right. You can't lose your whole map, and then expect the enemy not to kill as many people as they can at your spawn point. They would not lay back and wait for you to attack in real life, they would try to take control of your base.

I play Spec Ops 95% of the time, whilst I do my bit by blowing assets Im a BIG believer in defence. I cant count the number of times I have rigged a flag to eliminate a take over by the enemy. I may be on the opposite side of the map but if I see my rigged flag go neutral Ill stop what Im doing, check the minimap for friendlies( erhmm..pretty important) then hit the detonator and blow them away. I then tell my team the flag is clear and to retake it as fast as possible. The only downside to this, for me, is I dont get the defend flag bonus for not killing them before the neutral. That however is a small price to pay to help keep control of the flag, especially if Im capping another at the time :)

Defence is a major part in winning. Most people, Ill agree, forget all about it though.

That's all you had to write. I agree with all of your points and particularly like that line :)

Like I said a gazillion times.. spawn camping is yet another thing people create to excuse their losses.

I never have an issue with noobtoobers, bunny hoppers, spawn campers, tank whores, apc whores or any of that other crap that younger crybabies (or older bitches) of this community have created to substitute their losses.

Example: If I get spawn camped, I spawn somewhere else. If there is nowhere else to spawn, my team screwed up somewhere down the road anyway, so the "spawn campers" deserve the right to kill kill kill. It's easy to break out of a spawn camp anyhow if your team isn't stupid (you die and respawn in the same place, while they have to respawn and come back.. even with squads, you still have the advantage).
