Can not (can't) uninstall or install

Hello,

A few weeks ago I started to get a graphics problem in the game where the landscape would go black. I thought this may be a problem with the install so I attempted to uninstall the game. The uninstall feature did not work; it just got the end of the first screen and then closes without warning or a message.
This left me no option but to completely wipe the game from my HDD, delete the directory folder and all the relevant registry elements.
After doing this I then tried to install the game but this had the same problem when I tried to uninstall. It gets to the end of the first screen and then closes. At first I assumed it was a problem with my version of MS Installer, but seeing as I am able to uninstall and install any other program except BF2, the MS Installer may actually be OK.

This is getting desperate now; I have the game (legal copy) but am not able to play it.

Any help would be much appreciated.

try rerunning you rlatest service pack (sp2 for xp) failing that give it a reload :)

did you try running an uninstall from cd ?

I have the latest of all windows updates, I have even tried using different versions of the MS Installer but have still not prevailed.

What do you mean by try a reload?

Yes I have tried the installer on the CD, but this had the same problem as the MS installer purely because it uses the MS Installer and doesnt have its own.

Any other ideas?
This is getting desperate.
I would just format and re-instal windows because its easier than trying to fix the problem but, I have only just formatted and installed windows and would prefer not to go through all that again :S

maybe you missed a registry entry, most likely the Unistall for add/remove, as it isn't obvious, or the InstallShield folder for BF2.

This game has had too many problems installing. I tried installing it on a laptop, crashes after it loads the first movie. I've had the landscape go black too, I have the spinning chopper rotors move as a black square and its very noticable when I zoom in with a gun and it goes all black. Its usually onOperation Clean Sweep where its noticable but can happen anyway.
