i need a comp that is good enough to play World of warcraft the newest version you know the mmorpg, I was gonna buy some ram to put in it to play bf2 but my moms getting the comp and its gotta be reasonably a good price mostly under 700 dollars so if u can help me plz dont hesitate to.

and also my mom says that amd burns up like gets heated quickly so i guess ill not get a comp that can run it unless u guys say that its actually good and stuff
so im gonna stick to a intel pentium 4 so ya plz help

Anyways, you can build your own system for under $700. Just use google to find out the basics and buy your stuff from www.newegg.com or www.zipzoomfly.com

The main things in a system are the

-Case
-CPU (Processor) AMD and only AMD...
-Video Card
-RAM (Memory)
-Storage, Hard drive
-Motherboard
-CD-Rom DVD-Rom or burner
-Sound Card
-PSU (Power Supply)
-Keyboard
-Mouse
-Monitor

build your own

you can build yourself an exellent pc for $700. But AMD are much much better then intels, don't know what your mom is saying.

here is what my PC is

$150 Radeon 9800
$110 AMD athlon 2800+
$55 Some mobo I can't remeber the name of, its actually not that bad.
$85 1024mb (1gig) PC3200 ram
$50 Case

It runs most games on high and runs BF2 on med/high.

I just built my system from there. $1100...almost all top end...with my dual 930b monitors I'm still below $2000.

The problem is with PC's around $700 they have the intel pro savage video crap - I assume your mom is going to be buying off the shelf rather than putting it together. I would suggest something like this:

Then pick yourself up a geforce 6600gt or ATI 9800PRO video card for around $150 to replace the onboard crap.

the only thing about buying the parts and building it my self is its supposed to be a gift for christmas and my mom doesnt want to buy all the parts cause its to much for here to handel so ya i need a already built comp and i can put in the vid card my self

I would want to get an off the shelf comp then add to it for the simple reason that alot of the part that you wont be replacing like the motherboard is usually total crap. If I were you I would do everything I could to figure out a way to build one yourself. I would just ask for money for xmas then order the parts and build yourself a comp.

ya thats all i want is 1 gb of ram and a vid card look here are my specs


224 ram its a compaq presario
400 somthing mhz and nothing good in it so ya i need a good comp this thing is old so ya

post a comp thats already built that u would buy and then put what u would put in it thats under 50 bucks ok

off the shelf while adding something that has to be under $50? I dont think a decent computer is possible with those perameters :hmm:

just go with the basic rule of thumb that HP/Compaq = very very bad
