I am getting very bored of people complaining about every aspect of Battlefield 2.
If you don't like it, hey! Feed it to your dog, throw it at your neighbor, chew on it, try to flush it down the toilet, try to skate on it. Really, I don't care, love it or leave it, because i'm tired of hearing you whine like a little child.
Now, for a second, i'm going to be psychic, I predict that i'm going to hear....

Just really, unless you have something intelligent to say, keep it to yourself or go hit some bullets with a hammer. This isn't targeted at everyone, just those who are doing it.

I didn't make you buy the game nor did you give me 50 bucks to begin with. Take it back to the store or just don't play it.

I have never been bunny hopped. Well i have but only a few times.

Whatever I like BF2 a Lot.

Yeah... people are never satisfied. The game isn't perfect, but it's the closest thing to "the game I always wanted to play" that I've ever seen.

People who are screaming about how much EA and/or Dice "suck" really need to be exposed to some of the real foulups the industry has produced.

My most resent huge dissapointment was Tribes: Vengances. That project was so baddly mis-handled by it's publisher (VUG) that it cost them 3 developers.

Atari has also proven themselves to be unworthy of being a PC games publisher. They caused Bioware to abandon their D&D francise, since Atari owns the rights to all PC D&D products, but handled NwN so poorly that Bioware publicly stated that they will never do another game with them directly (BTW, this is why NwN2 is being out-sourced).

With those two publishers out of the picture, we're left with only MicroSoft (who will never give PC games their full due as long as they are making X-boxes) and EA (who controls an obsene amount of the industry).

This isn't an unexpected situation. I predicted about 10 years ago that this was going to happen. The games industry is following the history of Movie industry very closely. Making movies was something that almost anyone could do if they had a cammera and time, way back. Then it became more and more about making the money. The audiances wanted higher and higher quality, which demanded bigger budgets. This brought producers and publishers into the picture. Eventually those producers and publishers were able to wrestle the magority of control away from the studios, since it was too expensive for independants to do much. The people with the money took over. After years of big fish eating small fish, it got down to only 2 major publishers in film... Fox, Paramount. Then a crash happened. It started to become a losing battle trying to make money with budgets so high that it was hard to re-coop them at the box office. Budgets started to drop and more independants were able to get going. Dreamworks shocked everyone by becoming a new major player almost overnight. Now, with Direct to DVD becoming more popular, mush of the cost has been cut and has accelerated the growth of independants.

As I say, the PC games industry has followed that model very closely... it's just happened faster. With new distibution vectors coming up (like Steam and Digital Distro), we're likely to see more small guys being able to get involved and the fat cats are going to be in some trouble (EA has already reported losses).

I suspect that things will get worse before they get better, but eventually we'll get a stronger industry as a result.
