    Battlefield 1942 Desert Combat

Did any one enjoy playing the orginal Desert Combat MOD for Battlefield 1942. Ive been looking over this website and there seems to be alot of mods out there. Does anyone know the team that created the Desert Combat MOD or if there going to bring one out for BF2. It would make me a very happy man.

The best chopper pilot on BF2

DC was made by Trauma Studios which then became DICE New york, the DC team will not be doing any modification work for Battlefield 2, however there is a DC-like mod called Desert Conflict in progress.

You can also check out the mod US Intervention for another DC type of game, modern warfare...

So true! For those that did not know...
DICE bought out the Trauma team (DC mod team) and hired about 12 of them to form the DICE New York branch. I believe it was early July this year, they closed shop and no one knew what or if the NY team was working on anything. Although they did offer them the opportunity to work in Europe or where ever their main place is. I think EA bought DICE and they had some influence on this... or they just wanted the mod so that they could make BF2.

Why the heck would Dice (or EA) need the rights to DC in order to make BF2? It's not like the games are very similar, within the genre.

Another possibility is that Dice realized the Trauma guys were just amateurs and that they had no use of them.
Not saying that's so, just pointing out that.. well, you know what happens when you assume.
Actually though, if I were to make a guess as to what really happened, I'd guess the Traume peeps were hired to make an expansion pack, but that the project was scrapped for whatever reason a while into development. Maybe it wasn't working out the way EA wanted it, or maybe they wanted to take the game in a direction different from the one the hypothetical expansion pack would have. If you haven't seen the inside of the games industry, even with the news reporting available today, you'll have no idea how ignorant and obstinate publishers can be. Or usually are as a rule, tbh. :)

In my opinion Desert Combat was better than Battle Field 2, it just felt more free and playable like the maps were way bigger. I'm not sure what the crack is with Dice but I think that about 80% of the ideas for BF2 came from the Desert Combat. EA must of seen how busy the Desert Combat servers were and obviously there out to make money hence BF2.

                        Any one agree?

Not me. Desert combat couldn't have done all that much more than they already had, their continued work wouldn't have done much against BF2. I think it was just more of a "We got what we wanted out of you, we don't want to pay you anymore" thing.

DC is better than bf2 for now, until i get a better comp that wont lag and get me 5 fps or less for the first 15 mins of every game..
