Trouble installing 1.03 patch...

Hey all,

I just re-installed BF2 on my comp, and now im stuck on the 1.03 patch.. I know that you need 1.6GB in "Main" but, I cant free any more space - so is there anyway to bypass this stage? I seriously cannot free up anymore space in main (its 1.14gb..), is there anyway to 'extract' the files from the .exe or something?

Need some ideas/suggestions..

IMHO you need to free up that space. People have played around with ways to get around the problem but it's caused more problems than solved. You can extract the patch but that's not where the problem is. The Patch will unpack the 500Mb zip files in the /BF2/ directory and it's these files that take up the space.

Can you more your pagefile to a different drive where there is more space?

Where's the pagefile?

My game is installed on another HDD, with 6GB free, but my "main C" drive only has 1.14gb...

Do I just move this to another HDD? Because reading that page

has stuff to do with virtual memory, I use no virtual memory...I just want to install the 1.03patch...

you need 1600MB free space because the patch needs to decompress all of the main game files before working on them, after patching it will recpompress then to game format.
There is no way around this space requirement.

Antipop, my link explains what to do. The pagefile is a file that you normally can't actually see. It could be up to 1Gb big and is used by the system. You can tell XP to move this file to another harddrive, reboot and then you'll find that your drive has more free space than before.
