    Re: Another Auto-Balance Rant

For someone to win, someone else must lose. Sometimes you're the hammer, other times you're the nail.

You always have the option to press Esc then Disconnect, but then you're marked as a crybaby pansy. The real fighters stick it out, even relishing in a comeback victory if it's possible. If you are playing on public servers, you are simply begging to be surrounded by terrible players. Even if you are one of the skilled ones, you have to admit that public servers are magnets for the inexperienced and/or unsocialized players.

Even if you can't be commander, you can still help the team in other ways. Even the guy that sits back at base and repairs the equipment when the commander doesn't is regarded as a true team player--sacrificing his stat padding for the good of the team.

I sometimes like being switched to the losing team just because it gives me a chance to really shine. The way I see it, is if everything else remains the same except that I've been switched to the team that lost the last round, and we do better, I'm making an impact. That's something worth crowing about.
Being on the team that's just gonna win means you're just along for the ride.
I've never claimed to be a great commander. I am a decent commander, though. I played two games that day (the first game, I entered after it had already begun, and applied for commander when I saw that we didn't have one). We won that first game, as MEC, something like 190 to 0 and had the US pinned onto the carrier. I was switched to the other side for the second game. This is the game we lost 150 to 0. The server forced the teams to switch sides, then I was switched again! This put the winning team on USMC, and me with the loosing team as MEC. Once again, the winning team confined the loosing team to one uncappable base. Obviously, switching only one person wasn't going to make much of a difference to the outcome of the game if one team is winning by more than 150 points.

While the patch did fix the problem of being autobalanced to the other side in the middle of a game, the autobalance feature still leaves a lot to be desired.

After that readout, I'm not seeing this as an autobalance issue. This looks like a map that gives one team an advantage. If MEC owned USMC both times, I'd say that the map had an MEC advantage for whatever reason. However, I would just as simply state that who ever was on the USMC side didn't really care about the team objective. They probably cared more about flying a specific vehicle or learning their interface for the first time.

No no.....MEC won the first round, then the sides were switched. Those same players were now on USMC, and won the next round the same way. The teams were simply highly unbalanced. I hate that I was switched from MEC to USMC with the rest of my team after winning the first round, then immediately autobalanced back to MEC again where I was on the losing team. To answer the next logical question before it's even asked........I believe I was the only player switched in the "autobalance". That's just irritating.

Well there you go. It was simply a matter of l33ts versus n00bs. Happens all the time. It's called "pub-raping clanners".

Sooner or later a mod is going to deside that it's "advertising" or spam.

Just add the details of your server to your sig.
 Anti auto-balance, smart balance works for us! Like I said though we have no probs with getting team switched because we use BF2CC's smart balance and have our clan tags setup so it nevers team switches us mid game. We may consider adding other clan tags as well for regulars on our server.
