X-Fi + Ultra High sound setting problem

I just got a new X-Fi Fatal1ty today, installed it fine, got it up to date with its latest drivers and software, but I have one problem.

I set the sound settings to "Creative X-Fi" and put the quality on Ultra, but when I hit "apply" the game just closes itself. When I start the game up again, the settings arent saved.

Anyone with this soundcard no what the problem is?

    thanks

Argh still trying to find it. Just for the hell of it, is your X-fi set to game mode? IIRC it needs to be to use the full settings in BF2.

Yeah, I set it to game mode.
But do I have to leave the control panel open during play for it to take effect?

No, you shouldn't. Creative's web site is being bitchy and I can't find the article I'm looking for.

Am I going to have to install some sort of beta driver, or will I just have to do a simple tweak?

Simple tweak, It involves uninstalling those drivers, then installing something else form the disk, I'm still looking to find the instructions.

Eh, I give up. I can't find it anymore. Here's the link to Creative Forums, you may be able to find something there.

Thanks for trying, but I guess I'll just wait for the next patch and hope it solves this problem.

Re: X-Fi + Ultra High sound setting problem

                        It is solveable pretty easily.

                        1) download the drivers from the website creative.com/support

                        2) install the new drivers

                        3) set to game mode

                        4) set in-game to X-fi and then high, hit save

                        5) exit the game and goto C:/Documents and Settings/USERNAME/My Documents/Battlefield 2/mods/bf2/cache/ clear all folders from here.

                        6) restart the game the "ultra high" setting should be un-red'ed and select it and hit apply.

Walla, X-fi Ultra-high. Enjoy its very nice. I have my Fatal1ty on Logitech Z5500's and I love it.

Well, I installed the drivers from the CD (because those are the latest). So Im fine there.
But when I set the game to X-Fi and hit apply (no matter what sound quality setting) the game crashes to the desktop and does not save the settings.

Do I need to uninstall my drivers first, or just install the ones from the website over the ones from the CD?
