Catalyst Version 5.11 BF2:Demo Problem - Radeon 9250 Pci Card

I just officially uninstalled all my ati software (programs & video drivers), and installed the lattest catalyst control center 5.11 for my radeon 9250 pci card. Ati states:

Battlefield 2: Playing the game under Windows XP with an ATI Radeon® 9200/9250 series no longer results in the operating system failing to respond.

I also just installed Battlefield 2 Demo , but it wont play the Demo. Well it starts it fine, but shortly after it gets to the screen to choose singleplay or multiplay, it shuts down the game and displays a message about "Vpu recovery console has reset the graphics accelerator" or something to that extent.

Is there a way to fix this?

2.4 GHz Intel Celeron D Processor
512MB RAM
Video: ATI Radeon 9250 128-bit 256MB PCI Video Card
Catalyst Version 5.11
Microsoft DirectX Version 9.0c

Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0

mine crashes with 5.11 on a x800 pro with full game back 2 5.9 for me

lol they make daft requirements so in a few years it will still b popular cz everyone will then have the specs for it! ive get my eye on a nVidia 6800XT, radeon has too much ****in bout, and now days, alot of the games recommend nVidia. Next thing is updating my CPU to 3Gigs...

OR GAME SPEC REQUIREMENTS

BTW YOU MIGHT LOOK AT GETTING MORE RAM + A NEW CARD :)

The 9250 although it is higher then the 8500, it is actually an older core which is not supported by the game.

I have a 9200 Card on my other computer~
Before the 5.11 update, BF2 would freeze and the "Vpu recovery console has reset the graphics accelerator" would appear. But I discover a method to play BF2 with that card by changing the setting
This is what you need to do, At the ATI control panel or Catalyst Control center. At setting of the AGP, turn it to 4X instead of 8X. Restart your comp and try to load BF2 again. This works out ok for me~

****This is the method I use before the 5.11 Update******
After the update, I turn it back to 8X and it ran smooth~

I'm just hoping that it works when ATI releases the 5.12 Version!

The card isn't even supported by the game. I'm surprised it even worked to behind with. Turn off VPU Recovery to get rid of the error message (its in your Cat. Control Panel, or advanced display settings depending upon which package you downloaded with the drivers).
