I'd say it's a no no. Too many teamkills, and If you're commander is an ass, he might litter your base with mines.

Dropped mines? How would that work? Maybe a nice little crew of Engineer NPCs that run out and drop them while giggling? Now that, would be entertaining. On a serious note, I would actually like the ability to see mines, in a game, that you have to bury. Then to see to it that friendlys don't hit them, mark them as BF2 does already, and also show a blip or dot on the radar of the mine's locations.

They could be cluster mines like in C&C Generals. They come in a large cluster bomb. But instead of releasing smaller bombs, it would release proximity mines.

C&C Generals was a wierd version of modern warfare. Westwood never really kept to the norm when it came to their games. Battlefield 2 is a modern combat simulator, cluster mines would be ridiculous and plus, the UN has outlawed the use of landmines. They cause too many civilian casualties and friendly fire.

                    woo, Mine Strike!

Select the correct frequency and call in those reinforcements. A payload of fresh mines will land on your selected are of land to try and limit the enemy's range of movement. Warning mines dropped from a great height have a tendency to bounce and may not always stop exactly where you wanted them to.

                    Worms pwns.

They just need to make remotely controled turrets that the commander can use/deploy.

Think about it. Dropping pressure sensitive explosives. Smart.

yes but they dont have the power to enforce it and anywas not every country has signed it i believe U.S., China, and Russia are the ones who didnt sign and still use mines

Not true. Depending on the mines. FASCAMS, MOPMS (Self detonating after a specified time) are not in violation of any UN resolution and are still used.

Now their location may be in violation (ie: city streets in a heavy civilian area) but their use in general is not.

Now in regards to game play.... I would think this would be a bad idea. While I like it, i also know the tendency of your own team swarming to them And simply giving the CO no TKs in this would just create massive mining of the area.
