Some people take it too far, tes BF2CC has some silly words in it by default, I took em all off and deactivated the word kick script on my server.
If I'm logged in though and someone is fouling up the place with excessive profanity then I will kick 'em.
But if someone gets shot down and types "oh f***" then I have no issue.

I got kicked for saying "Theres a chopper on our ass". No warning just instant kick. The BF2CC people should be stoned for leaving that in as a default setting. Theres a reason BF2 has a "T" rating.

Maybe there is a rule aginst landing a chopper on a donkey?

We have BF2CC setup for language also. It basically on for those people that continually flood the screen swearing over and over or use racist remarks. However we are lenient to swearing, we know it happens in the heat of the moment however if someone continually abuses another player we show them the door.

We don't have words like suck and ass in the filter.

Remember though you are a guest on our server, its a privledge not your right and in someone behaves in a manner such as constantly swearing or abusing another player, we will show them the door.

Well something screwy happened to our server tonight. It crashed, we rebooted it then it was warning for just about any word. I checked the filter and none of the words were in there that it was warning for.

For example nite was a word it put a warning up for. Nothing was in the filter to match that. Though since the server crashed there have been some other screwy things happening so I think it needs a hard reboot.

i dont see the point in a language filter seeing as nobody ever reads whats said in chat anyway and even if they did it would be scrolled off the screen in a matter of seconds anyway as people are killed etc.

Its just pointless.

I thought for sure the S word he was talking about was "sorry".

About a week ago I was playing (don't recall the server, or even the map)and was kicked for saying sorry. I remember seeing one warning about my language after I had been shot down and said sorry, as an apology to my crew, even though it really wasn't my fault. I asked for an admin to explain my infraction, but got no response.

The next time I got shot down, I said sorry again (I guess it's just a habit) and BOOM...KICK!

I thought it must be a fluke, so after my minute kick was up I went back on that server, only to see another player complaining about the same thing! He got no response either and was kicked shortly thereafter for saying it again.

The only thing I can figure is that they assumed that a lot of intentional TKers try to slide by without being punished by saying sorry, so they decided to deal with it in this manner.

Anyone else see this happen??? Just curious.

I guess I need to stop being so courteous.

I joined a server one day and the server message said say "Hi" when you join... I got ingame said "Hi" and to my suprise the next thing I saw way "Banning SlimShady17 for saying the word "Hi"".

there's one server i play on that has a no swearing policy. but they consider
WTF and BS swear words, plus you get no warning, its an instant kick/ban.

i always get kicked from that server...

i can see if people actually spelled the words out, but typing wtf and bs and getting kicked/banned is a little ridiculous!

Don't you guys get it yet? The FCC tried to ruin Howard Stern's time, and now we're next. There are about 5 million+ Americans you can thank for this "purist" attitude invading our free rights. Remember: you don't have to read the chat messages, just like you don't have to listen to Howard Stern.

Its funny cause i never txt chat in BF2 anymore, but i sure let the profanity fly in VOIP. I sometimes feel sorry for the 5 year olds that have to listen to my banter, but to be honest, listening to their high pitched "oh im soo leet!" is just as annoying and personally scarring. Besides, since I usually have the better score in my squad, my teamates let me rant on when I get a nade launcher in the face
