After a long time of playing, I have finally reached Staff Sergeant. My favorite and most-played kit has been AT, which I have used more than 3 times longer than my second-favorite kit. Even though I rarely play as support, I decided to unlock the PKM as I usually play close-in maps such as Karkand and Mashtuur and the gun that would kill me most often there was the PKM. After unlocking it, I found that the gun wasn't easy to use. It was hard to aim, had a slow rate of fire, and would only kill people coming right towards me. Snipers suddenly became my worst enemy, and people would run up to me, go prone 3 feet away, and kill me with a carbine, despite the fact that I had let loose 20 shots into them before they even started firing at me. I know this gun can be used very effectively, especially in the close-in maps I prefer, but I just can't seem to unleash its potential. Any tips? (And yes, I do go prone while using it)

this is the "lucky hit" gun. it will randomly spray for X amount of time, and eventually one magic bullet comes out 100% accurate and headshots the enemy.
this way, u have to prone, scope, and then hold the button on their head for X amount of time until you get the "lucky hit". sometimes the Lucky Hit is instant, sometimes it takes up to 10 seconds. But it always eventually comes... if you live long enough for it.
