Need Help!! Can't solve INVALD CD KEY ERROR!!

I have tried all the matters stated in this forum and reinstalled and patched the game for more then 6 times. Even tried many version of the 1.03 patch....

Few days back i manage to solve the problem by this steps (below) and the next day when i play BF2 again the same error "INVALID CD KEY" appears again.. i reuse the blow steps and this time it did not resolve the problem.. Can anyone help thanks!!!! Hell to YOU EA!! for coming out with this patch!!

I understand that if i run BF2CDKeyCheck.exe it should encrpt my CD eky and show long characters.. but it show X9392.. what should i do??
I really apprieciate helps from u all bros... i miss the 3hrs i play WAKE ISLAND..


1. Go to Start>Run and type in regedit and click OK.
2. Find this key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\EA Games\Battlefield 2\ergc]
3. On the right hand side there should be something called (Default). Double-click or Right-click>Modify to open the Edit String window. Your CD-KEY should be in the Value Data box. If it is not, or if something else is there, replace it with your CD-KEY. (Do not use hyphens but use capital letters)
4. Close the registry editor.
5. Start the installer.
6. Select your language, then click Next. Stop, but do not close the patcher yet.
7. Go to Start>Run and type in %TEMP% and click OK.
8. A window will pop-up. Press F3 and search for BF2CDKeyCheck.exe and then run the .exe
9. Now close the patcher and start the game.

You most likely typed in the cd-key wrong. It should be 12311231.. not 1231-1231-1231 when entered in registry.

The X9392.. is the encrypted key, and should look like that.

In points 3. and 4. instead of typing in the CD-key directly in the registry, edit it and delete the contents inside the (Standard) value, so (Standard) is blank. Then go to SUPPORT folder where you installed BF2. Start Battlefield 2_code.exe and type in cd-key.

-Yea i have omit the "-" when keying the CD key
- I thought the encrytped cd key shld looklike a very long string of characters?? so if i get X9392 , this 5 character mean my key is encrypted corrected?? if it is why still have the error when i join a server?
- Sometime i nv add in the cd key into registry directly and use the Battlefield 2_code file in the support folder instead and still the same error..
- if i get X9392 mean my key corectly encrypted?????:hmm:

I thought when you typed X9392 it was just so you didn't want to type the entire key here on the forum.

It should be much much longer than the 20 letter key.

no lar .... after i encrypted the registry still show X9392.. that mean it never encrypted properly.... what could be the reasons?? i manage to play for 3 hrs on 1.03 before dam it
