So, I bought CoD2 last week...

The difference in professionalism is quite astounding.

Never had so much fun in an online shooter in my life.

Sure, they're different games, but I challenge any nut here to tell me why DICE can't make a server browser as reactive as CoD2's.

I won't talk about map-loading time, because we all know the BF2 maps are much larger, require more textures etc...

The way the game starts up, the way it stops when I quit it. My machine (which is good) doesn't feel as if it's been buggered up the bottom. And man, is it fun.

Am I BF2 bashing? Not sure... Maybe, maybe not. But I feel vindicated omy my server browser argument when you see one that is fast, correct, sortable, and just "works".

Flame away, I still like BF2, but EA/DICE need to hire some new coders...

    Peace out! :)

Just depends on the netcode and how well it's optimized. If the developer is using a proprietary engine that hasn't been properly tested (testing in a vacuum doesn't count, DICE), not much good will come of it. Just look at Bungie's Halo for PC. The browser took a second to bring up servers, but the game's code itself was a resource hog. Totally unoptimized. Made me put down the game entirely after a couple months. CoD, however, has a great netcode based off the Quake3 engine, and Grey Matter and Gearbox made great patches.

If I wasn't so sick of WWII shooters, I'd check this out.

ive tried cod2 on xbox 360 at bestbuy and graphics are nice and gameplay is fun and all..except stuff i hate is how u rengerate health so fast...i would get shot at until i had the bloodshot eyes and tehn i would hide for like 10 seconds and then im back in action. stuff ive heard about on multiplayer is that grenades are too powerful and thers this 71 bullet gun that fires wicked fast and most ppl own with it by spraying, but are tehre any other stuff that cod2 has to make it unique?

CoD 2 is CoD 1 with better graphics but minus some features (cooking grenades, sprint and a health bar). It is the typical deathmatch infantry type of game and doesn't interest me at all. The fact that there are more gametypes is a good thing though something BF2 sorely lacks.

That 71 bullet gun is the PPSh-41 and one of the best SMG of WW2 so it's not that unrealistic if it's good.

                      Go buy now.

Simple as, its an amazing game, especially for such a WW2 fanboy like me.

Yes, there were lots of problems with the PPSH in CoD1, but shouldn't be too bad now, as the ruskies have a nice assualt rifle... not sure what it is yet, i don't have the game yet lol.

It really isn't DICE its EA that insists on using GameSpy which is one of the worst available game browsers (coding wise).

I was put off by CoD2 cause its going to be on XBox360 I thought, that its going to require a monster of a PC to run, maybe I'm wrong reckon I could play it? Spec in sih btw :)

LOL Are you kidding? My little brother can play it with his GeForce TI 4200, and 512 mb RAM with a 1.8 2500+ AMD. You are fine dude. . . you could get some decent graphics too. Probably Medium High just like your BF2 range is.
