Yes, get your game back and re-install.
Sorry..but until you've tried that, I'm fresh out of ideas.
You shouldn't be lending games to friends. If you're both trying to play using the same copy, that IS against the EULA.Comment

seems to me like a videocard driver problem !!! a freind had the same weird thing !!!
after he reinstalled to a previous version it worked again !!!
or maybe try omega drivers ... www.omegacorner.com
